Canon PIXMA MP760 All-In-One Photo Printer - Press Release

Canon Delivers a Multifunction Photo Center in the New PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One

New Canon PIXMA MP760 Photo All-In-One Features Direct Photo Printing From 35mm Slides and Negatives, Digital Media Cards and PictBridge Digital Cameras

Canon's new PIXMA MP760 Photo-All-in-One, which will be on display at PMA 2005, February 20 - 23 (Canon Booth #3503), in Orlando, Fla., allows consumers to print directly from slides and negatives, includes card slots for direct digital photo printing and features a color LCD screen for viewing images. In addition to great prints, users can also scan and make copies with the MP760 unit raising the bar for photo print quality from a multi-function device.

The newest addition to Canon's PIXMA line of Photo All-in-One printers, the PIXMA MP760 model boasts speed, dynamic handling of various media types, and outstanding image quality whether users are scanning, copying or printing photos. The built-in film and negative scanner and Contrast PLUS five-color ink tank system emphasize that this is the optimal MFP for the photo enthusiast who wishes to copy, print or archive heirloom photos or print the latest digital masterpiece.

"More and more the marketplace is demanding photo centric All-in-One's over purely productivity oriented products," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE CAJ). "With the ability to go directly from slides or negatives to lab-quality photo prints without a PC, the new PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One is Canon's ultimate multi-function photo center."

The scanning portion of the PIXMA MP760 model includes an integrated film adapter unit (FAU) that will allow the user to scan a 35mm slide or negative at up to 2400 x 4800 dpi. With the included film holders, users can batch scan up to six negative frames or four mounted slides. Advanced driver software helps to identify and remove defects caused by dust and scratches on the surface of originals. For crisp results, the new model also has an auto image adjust feature to help correct faded documents and faded film. The direct print feature on the new model also enables users to scan their slides or negatives and go straight to print without ever having to use a computer, making the PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One a true home photo lab for both digital and analog camera users.

    Simple Photo Printing

In addition to printing directly from slides and negatives, users can print their photos directly from compatible media cards* using one of the MP760 model's built-in card slots. The MP760 MFP can produce Photo Index Sheets directly from a memory card to simplify photo and media selection. Users select photos for printing by filling in the box adjacent to the image thumbnails printed on the Index Sheets, which are then scanned back into the device. For added convenience, the PIXMA MP760 model features PictBridge technology for direct photo printing from PictBridge compatible digital cameras and camcorders.

The large built-in color 2.5" LCD screen supports easy preview, selection and editing before printing from memory cards and film scans. The new PIXMA MP760 model comes with one power source, easy installation, and a stylish and space saving design. To prevent accidental paper jams, the front output tray opens automatically when copying or printing commences.

Copy, Print and Scan with Speed and Flexibility

The PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One model can easily copy photographs or documents. With the MP760 model, users can create borderless copies of photos or documents in credit card, 4"x6", 5"x7" and letter sizes. There is also the ability to scan paper documents that can be stored electronically as PDF files with the 'Scan-to-PDF' function from within the driver.

A built-in duplex unit in the new MP760 model provides double sided printing and copying -- saving both time and paper. Also featured are dual paper paths, including an auto sheet feeder and a front-loading cassette paper tray, which enables users to switch from plain paper to special photo paper at the touch of a button on the machine.

With print speeds of up to 25 pages-per-minute (ppm) in black** and up to 17 ppm in color**, the PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One provides fast performance for home and office settings. Borderless 4"x6" photos can be printed in as little as 36-seconds**.

    Intuitive LCD Screen

The PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One features a large 2.5 inch color LCD screen which displays valuable information on standard copying features in addition to ink tank levels, 2-sided printing mode as well as thumbnail images from digital memory cards and 35mm slide or negatives during direct photo printing.

    Canon Ink System

The PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One utilizes Canon's unique five-color ContrastPLUS ink system, which, in addition to the high-speed text and graphics pigment-based black ink tank, incorporates a dye-based photo-grade black ink tank for photo printing, helping to deliver excellent image contrast and overall sharpness, particularly when used on photo paper. To help reduce waste, each ink color is stored in a transparent, individually replaceable tank. As a result, users replace only the ink that runs out, not an entire tri-color cartridge containing unused ink.

    FINE Print Head

All of the Canon PIXMA Photo All-in-Ones feature exclusive Canon FINE high-performance print heads. FINE technology (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) delivers sub-micron level precision during the printing process. FINE print heads are the only consumer-oriented print heads to achieve an actual 1,200 dpi nozzle pitch and are manufactured without machining or assembly.

The FINE print head found in the Canon PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One is an adaptation of Canon's own silicon chip manufacturing technology, used to create print heads with the tolerance and precision close to that of integrated circuits. The PIXMA MP760 Photo All-In-One has 1856 total nozzles which are capable of ejecting millions of ink droplets as small as two picoliters each second, the smallest ink droplet size in its class. This unique method produces detailed images with outstanding resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 color dpi***. FINE print heads provide greater accuracy for virtually grain-free prints.

    Software

The PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One includes the following software+:

-- MP Navigator (Windows(R)/Mac(R)) helps users get immediate optimum results with minimum fuss. Users select the required process (e.g. scan, print image from PC), then select the desired output; e.g. photo print, PC copy, OCR, attach to email, printing or save as a file or PDF.

-- Easy-PhotoPrint (Windows/Mac) assists with options such as media selection, size and scaling to make borderless printing of JPEG files easy. It includes features such as Face Sharpening for out-of-focus face correction, Red Eye Correction, Digital Face Smoothing to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and Blemish Remover.

-- Easy-WebPrint++ (Windows) sits on the Internet Explorer toolbar and helps take the frustration out of web page printing by correctly scaling output to prevent the common problem of having the right-hand side of web pages cut off.

-- ScanSoft(R) OmniPage(R) SE (Windows/Mac) - Optical Character Recognition application that converts scanned text into characters for editing or storage as searchable text file.

-- Arcsoft Photostudio (Windows/Mac) - Image-editing program featuring automatic color and tone enhancement, cloning, animated 3D text and over 40 special effects.

The new Canon PIXMA MP760 Photo All-in-One will be available in March for an estimated selling price of $299.99++.
