SURFING Magazine Announces Debut of ''30 Years of Flame: California's Legendary Surf Photographer''; Book Highlights Three Decades of Images from Legendary Photographer Larry ''Flame'' Moore

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2005--SURFING Magazine, the world's leading magazine covering progressive, international and competitive surfing published by PRIMEDIA, today announced the debut of "30 Years of Flame: California's Legendary Surf Photographer," a collection of images throughout the past three decades from renowned photographer and former SURFING Magazine photo editor Larry "Flame" Moore. As SURFING Magazine's photo editor for more than 30 years, Moore has captured over 43 cover shots and is credited with paving the road to success for many surf photographers, as well as the success of SURFING Magazine.

Written by former SURFING Magazine editor Nick Carroll, "30 Years of Flame: California's Legendary Surf Photographer," is a collection of beautiful photography highlighting Moore's passion for surfing and tireless pursuit of perfection. Available in Limited and Standard Editions, the Limited Edition features a hand-printed image, signed and numbered by Flame and a die-cut Saifu cloth case with foil stamped logo for $150; the Standard Edition is available for $75.

"'30 Years of Flame: California's Legendary Surf Photographer,' is a book dedicated to the passions of the surf lifestyle that SURFING Magazine conveys throughout every page," said Evan Slater, editor of SURFING Magazine. "With an arsenal of amazing and influential images, Moore has captured the surfing world as one of the most courageous and inspirational individuals. This book is historic and we are proud to be able to bring it to life."

The book tells the story "behind the lens" from Moore's early days in the dark room to his world travels with Paul Heussenstamm, to his crowning achievement - conquering Cortes Bank. Throughout his journey, Moore never strayed from his mission: to bring the brightest, most colorful, freshest form of surf photography to enthusiasts. This August, Moore was given SIMA's (Surf Industry Manufacturers Association) "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his influence, leadership and inspiration as a pioneering surf photographer. Moore's drive and courage has been even more evident in recent years as he is battling a grade four glioblastoma brain tumor.

"I've held off on making a book of my work for a long time," says Flame. "And I'm glad I did. To see it all in one comprehensive volume is truly a pleasure. I've shot a lot of perfect waves over the last three decades, that's for sure."

The book will be available for purchase via a link at www.surfingthemag.com or by calling 1-866-342-6334 beginning September 30, 2005. Proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Orange County Department of Education's Regional Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program at University High School.
