XD PICTURE CARD / SD MEDIA CARD COMPATIBLE SLOT
New for Fujifilm FinePix Line-up
CES 2007, Las Vegas , January 4, 2007 - FUJIFILM U.S.A., Inc. is pleased to announce that three new models announced today (A610, A800, and F40fd) will feature a newly developed card slot that will accept both xD and SD memory cards in the same slot.
Fujifilm is offering digital cameras with a media slot that is xD/SD compatible to provide a greater choice and flexibility to consumers who purchase Fujifilm digital cameras. The xD/SD compatible media slot is a single slot, dual-format compatible design for xD-Picture Card or SD media card.
In the three main markets of the world (North America, Europe and Japan) more than 50% of digital camera demand comes from consumers who have already bought at least one camera. Users may own a number of SD or xD cards, so the introduction of cameras taking both cards will open up the market for Fujifilm to many more potential customers. Furthermore, users of SD card-based cameras may consider switching to FinePix models without having to replace their existing SD cards.
Fujifilm remains committed to the xD-Picture Card format, and will continue to support and supply this media as is currently done now, as a robust, secure and reliable medium to record and preserve precious images.
