Had read a forum post at DPR about a member coming across a sale on the Nikon 70-300 VR lens for $399 with free UPS shipping. A few other members had commented on past good interactions so I pulled the trigger on 12/28 at 4:30PST. Saturday, my card was billed for $399. Monday/Tuesday were holidays so I checked my e-mailed purchase status update web site and noticed that it had not been shipped. It was also noticed that all mention of this lens had been removed from their web site.
Long story shorter, they apparently had orders in excess of inventory and sent an e-mail
"...I'm writing you to inform you of the status of your order for the Nikon 70-300mm VR lens. Due to a backorder situation your lens will unfortunately not be shipped out until Monday or Tuesday of next week. The price listed on the Cordcamera.com was a mistake but we do intend to honor the price if you will be patient enough to wait for our next shipment from Nikon to arrive. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. If you wish to cancel your order, please email us and we will cancel the order immediately..." :yikes:
Some posters indicated they received their units in good fashion but had ordered also earlier than I had so I waited with bated breath...
A new e-mail yesterday indicates...
"...Thank you for your purchase from Cord Camera!
If you purchased a product from us to be shipped, your package has been processed, boxed and assigned a tracking number..."
And UPS tracking indicates...
"Status: In Transit - On Time
Scheduled Delivery: 01/14/2008 "
I'm now a happier camper...:14:
