Here's the info on the three camera web-shops listed in the subject heading. I searched the internet for forums and decided to buy the Canon Digital Rebel XT w/18-55 lens, and some other accessories (filter, lens, case, etc).

Adorama has the best prices on filters, so I ordered from them. It came right away...a good business.

I called Royal Camera to ask them what exactly came in the box (software, battery, charger, cables. I didn't finish asking him what came with the camera when he interrupted me and ion a rude voice said,"Camera only," and then he hung up. So I called them right back, got the same guy, and again I didn't even get to finish one question. He interrupted,"Camera only" and hung up. That guy needs to be kicked in the head!!!! There not getting my business.

Next in line was Genius Camera. They called to confirm the credit card, and tried to switch me over to all kinds of other packages and accesories...I already knew what I wanted, so forget it! I placed the order on August 27. I called back several times and they always said they didn't have the camera in stock yet, and they didn't know when they'd get it. It's now November 22. Their website never listed the camera as out-of-stock, or low-in-stock when I visited their website weekly. I see the cameras all over the place in local stores...why don't they have them...they must be a black market camera shop. Obviously they SUCK on service.

Finally, back to Adorama...they're service was good for ordering the filters. I placed the camera order October 7th, along with a case, a filter ring adapter, and a second lens. I call them to confirm the credit card, and these guys are also pretty pushy sales people, trying to get you to change your order...add more accessories. I stuck with the order and they were fine. A week after the order, they had some weird vacation schedule the entire month of October, and at the end of the month they had a "warehouse and shipping reorganization" so they could speed up order processing. A call every week, and they always said,"Everything listed on your order is in stock, so it should be shipped very soon." We finally had to yell at them to get our order shipped, and they sent it 2-day air at no extra cost to us. It came November 11th, and I would try them again, since I had good service from my first order, and their prices are good.

Adorama has been around forever. They and B&H are at the top of the list for trustworthy dealers with good prices who carry everything. They both have strange vacation schedules because they are devout Jews and celebrate all Jewish religious holidays. Actually, a lot of the dealers in the NY area do the same thing. Keep that in mind while ordering. Most of them post holiday dates on their front page so that you can plan accordingly.
