Im currently looking to buy a Nikon D200. One of the first things I noticed in the online shopping world is price differences. How could there be a 4-$600. difference out there? How can they offer such a good deal? So digging around today I came across this ongoing article http://thomashawk.com/2005/11/pricer...nd-switch.html
At the bottomof the article, the first person to respond said to do a Google search for "companyname+scam" and youll get an idea weather you should deal with them or not. Just for the heck of it I typed in a few online "stores" who had these "to good to be true" prices and I got back some interesting results. Prestigecameras came back with 453 results. All about the old bait and switch scam, out of stock, etc. I did a few others and got back the same results. This is a good Google search for anything your in the market to buy. Makes it very frustrating when your trying to shop around for a good deal without getting ripped or taken. I guess you can always watch for your item to go on sale somewhere so you can physiclly walk into a store where you can see, hold, examin, and check out paperwork etc. to be safe. Just thought Id share this info. Maybe it could save someone from a bad experience. -td
