Thumbs down DigitalNerds.com - BEWARE BEWARNED

Recently had the need to acquire a point & shoot, selecting the canon DS850 and ordered it from digitalnerds. I received the normal 'call for validation to expedite processing' email and knew it was to sell additional accessories. Not needing any accessories I thank them, but politely said 'No Thank you'. Their rep was polite and said it would be shipped within 2 days. Today I received a note that it was back-ordered 6-10 weeks and that the order was cancelled. Fortunately they did not charge my credit card.

Things you should be aware of:

    1) They provided false advertising on their site and on the sites linking to them, stating that the product is 'in stock'.

    2) They provided false information via phone that the camera is in stock and would be shipped within 2 days.

    3) They are a loss-leader outfit seeking to seel accessories at 4-5x the normal rate. Example the battery was offerred to me at a discount rate of $149; whereas you can find the battery for at or aroun $25-30.

BAIT & SWITCH!!! They advertise low prices on their website, but try to upsell you on everything from additional memory to a battery to a case and everything in between for ultra high prices. When I let them know I was only interested in the camera they were very rude and explained that the camera was "gray market" and that it did not come with a manual, a charger, or any cords - RED FLAG! At that time I asked to cancel my order and they (a day later) have yet to provide me with the confirmation number that was promised to me. When I have tried to follow up I have been placed on hold for extended periods of time and the call has then been dropped. Again, DO NOT waste your time, energy, or money!

The DigitalNerds - True "Bait and Switch" sellers. I made the mistake of not checking them out first and just got scammed. They called to say, "Were you aware that the camera does not come with a memory card?" I said that wasn't a problem as I already had one from a previous camera that broke. Then he said, "Would you like to upgrade your REFURBISHED camera for a new one for just $30 more?" Pulled up my receipt and said that there was no indication whatsoever that it was a refurb. He said, "Well do you want the refurbished one or the upgrade?" I said neither. He said there would be a 20% cancellation charge. He asked, "So you want to cancel?" I said "Yes" and he said, "Okay. I'll process the cancellation charge." and hung up. I got an email saying that the order had been cancelled, called my bank and they suggested cancelling my credit card - which I did.

    DON"T ORDER FROM DIGITALNERDS !

Wow! That sounds familiar. If you don't buy their inflated accessories they will cancel the order. This is exactly what happened to me.
