    Angry Bel Air Camera

So I decide to buy a video camera from this place. Although I could've saved close to $100 by buying it online, I chose to give them the business since I've bothered them for information more than once.

When I get home to open it, there is evidence that it was previously opened. The SD card plastic was torn open and the card itself was missing. The battery was out of the plastic and on the camera!! I'm really ticked off because I was planning on using it this weekend. Now I need to go there tomorrow morning to get a fresh....deep down I should really just return it to teach them a lesson....but I don't want to argue with them in case they try to throw a restocking fee on me.

I hate stuff like this. I use to work for a major electronics retailer and once something opened or returned, we would sell it as open box at a lower price. This should not have been sold as new.

So I drive over there this morning and speak to the super and he goes ahead and processes the exchange. Things got heated when the guy who sold me the unit in so many word insinuates that I'm B.S.'ing them. I demand an apology and throughout the transaction with the super I express how a sales staff should offend customers.

They say it wasn't them and if at all it came like that from Canon. Of course the a$$ thinks I did it and tells me that he will sell it as new to someone else. Although the super corrects him and says they will send it back to Canon.

Anyway, I got a fresh box and the super threw in a couple step down rings I needed.

I hate stuff like this....in store or mail order....it is never guaranteed a smooth experience.

If you go to Bel Air Camera look for Ozzie for anything...he is a good guy.

Bummer! And supposedly going to a local dealer is good because of service. Always an exception isn't there.

Yeah, it really sucks. I've been buying a lot of stuff lately because I'm diving in head first with videography. The only headacheless experience so far was getting stuff at Best Buy and Fry's Electronics. Oh well......

The below bad reviews are right. Belair camera are arrogant, lazy, and overall a terrible business.

I recently purchased a new Canon PowerShot SX1IS Digital Camera online and confirmed over the phone. After not receiving anything for a week, I called to check. The arrogant employee told me they shipped it four days ago and it should be there the next day.

So I waited, then after two days nothing came and I called back and asked for a tracking number. The same arrogant employee obviously fumbled around for a bit and after a long pause told me that they made a mistake and would ship it out the next day. Then, I asked for the manager, in which he told me he was the manager. He said he would send me an extra something to cover the mistake they made.

The product finally came, almost two weeks late, and the camera inside looked used and scratched up. And the extras seemed damaged as well. I paid for a new camera and they won't accept my camera as return because it has scratches.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! A HORRIBLE BUSINESS!

    Wow.

I've been in Bel Air Camera and it seemed like a nice enough place to me. I can't remember if I bought anything or not, though. Sorry to hear that they have poor business practices.

Canoga Camera is very close to Bel Air Camera and I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I've happily given them thousands of my hard-earned dollars and never been disappointed. If you're shopping online or you're in the San Fernando Valley, try Canoga Camera instead. I'll vouch for them

I like Canoga. They are no non-sense. They don't push you into buying anything but have the knowledge to help. They are the only store I know in L.A. county with prices similar to BH Photo.

Sometimes, I prefer to buy them online. I've met no service of this kind when I shop online.
