"All of the companies were based in Brooklyn"

    Imagine that!

Thanks for posting that link, Alan. I'm glad to see they're getting sanctioned. Although the fine total is a drop in the bucket for the long term sleeziness these dealers represent. Some of them were doing this long before the Internet came along. The Internet just made it easier.

Thanks for sharing! It's about time some one does something about these companies. It will be interesting to see if/how they actually change.

Five of the companies--Best Price Camera, Foto Connection, 1 Way Photo, 86th Street Photo, and Broadway Photo--agreed to change their business practices...

Their problem will be that if they do indeed change their practices people will still not trust them and they will go under. The only reason they were getting orders were due to their low prices. If they bring their prices in line with everybody else with the reputation they have nobody will buy from them.

And that's a bad thing? It's like the guy in Canada who stocked his bike store with stolen bikes. He was able to offer really good prices. Now he's out of business just because he was a thief. Violins out.

These bait and switch folks can change their website names for under fifty dollars, and start running legitimate operations. I can't believe that they can't compete with B&H or Adorama, both of which have pretty good markup for 'discount' stores.

I've never thought of B&H and Adorama as discount stores. I deal with them because they have what I need at a fair price and you can trust them.

I meant the problem for them. The article stated they were changing business practices and they were going to be honest from here on out. But the problem for them is what I stated. They will go under and get what they deserve. I reread my post and I still don't see where you thought I was siding with them.
