    Question B&H Photo

Hi all, I recently decided on buying a Canon Rebel XTi after lost of reading and a stop in at the local photoshop.

I've heard great things about B&H, but mostly from American customers. I live in Canada, NS, to be specific and I wondering if anyone else here from Canada has delt with this store.

I'd be buying the camera and quite a few accessories.

How is shipping, duties, and taxes?
    Good/bad experince?

Any info would be very helpful.

Sorry no experience from Canada. All I can tell you is that I have made multiple orders from the the US Midwest and have always been very pleased. Never had the first bit of problems.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

All I know is they have the best reputation of any online company out there. I used to order from them before the advent of the internet. I never had a problem with them back then either. You just have to take into consdieration that they are New Yorkers so don't expect them to be overly friendly.

Contact B&H and ask them! They are very experienced with international orders and can probably give you the best answer.

Again, I have had nothing but outstanding service from B&H too. As a matter of fact, they are one of my computer hotlinks.

    Good Luck.

This is straight from B&H's site:

    International Delivery

We can ship via US Postal Service, or International UPS, depending on the weight, value, and destination of your merchandise. Please note that we will ship only to your home address, or to a USA residential address.

B&H is not responsible for and can offer no specific advice on import fees, duty, Customs or taxes that you may be charged when your merchandise reaches you and urges you to consult your local government import office with any questions.

Hi Johnsoir. I've bought from B&H before. You don't have to pay any duties on photography equipment imported from the states. You WILL have to pay tax (in your case, HST). Make sure you DON'T ship with UPS ground or FedEx ground (or else you will have to pay expensive brokerage fees). Other than that, you're getting a great deal!

I found this site called PhotoPrice, which does price comparisons for us Canadians. It automatically calculates the price for B&H and compares it to Canadian options. You can also read this article where I learned about buying from the US.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the help everyone. I ordered Monday after the holiday weekend. Order arrived Friday the same week. Amazing service, quick delivery and great products. I would highly recommend to anyone in Canada. Especially now that the exchange rate is down.

I'm so glad you got such good service - and everything went well. I buy most of my equipment from B&H.

    Re: B&H Photo

I just spent $16,000 US of someone elses money there and got a great deal. Not to worry, it was for work. Like Liz, I've bought tons of stuff there. She has the advantage of living close enough to go into the city and drool in person, not over an internet connection.
