Thumbs down Adorama, what a nightmare

I ordered some lighting equipment in late October. It was delivered with the wrong voltage, ie 120V instead of 220V (I live in Europe) and since then a nightmare. Call center cuts me off after waiting in the queue for a while, stuff never write back to me, return costs still to be reimbursed. After 3 months I have no hope to receive what I ordered and I have probably spent much much more then what I expected.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with them, and a bit surprised as well. I live in N.Y. and go into the store frequently to purchase my equipment, and always have a good feeling about them. I hope you can get your situation resolved with them.

Ask for Henry Posner (I think) -- he's the customer service manager and will no doubt set it right.

I have ordered several small items online and the only problem was UPS putting one box on the wrong truck sending it to New Jersey instead of Iowa (minor detail). Prices are a good deal.

I ordered over $8500 worth of stuff at once and no problems. I was rather surprised considering it was between holidays for them and everything shipped OK.

Since adorama is a sponsor of this forum, if I order from them, does it help the site in some way.......clarify please, I'm new to this group.

As long as you link to adorama from this site, then the site does receive some sort of funding.

Adorama and I would both be honored if you'd shop via their links in the forums

    Re: Adorama, what a nightmare

After a dozen phone calls, and hours of research, I did indeed order from Adorama this morning.
The price was as advertised, there was absolutely no pressure to add "extras". I got a reasonable delivery date. If all goes well I will add kudos to the service as well.
I originally called a "reputable " dealer. I was told the price was higher than advertised, and that the camera wasn't going to be available until at least 12 days.....if they got them then.

I often order electronics, and other items on line.........this has been the worst season for dishonest dealers in my many years of online ordering.
With sites like these.......perhaps some of these online stores will either clean up their acts or close.

Kudos to Adorama. Ordered the camera yesterday, no pressure to buy the extras that I didn't need. UPS just left my door an hour ago, delivered my purchase. All intact and shiny and new. I am one very very happy customer, and will order from them in the future.
Thanks Adorama for one excellent shopping experience.

    Re: Adorama, what a nightmare

I ordered some lighting equipment and I've now been waiting a month for monolights. I've called three times and each time I'm told that the person doing the ordering from the manufacturor is aware of the problem and trying his best. Ya know, I never experianced getting the run-around when I was buying for my shops in the Air Force and if I did, it usually only took one call from the AF contracting specialists to get the vendor's attention. I've never had any problems with B&H, their web site lists if an item is in stock or not. Not Adorama's. I'm highly pissed and will never buy from them again.
