Re: Your equipment....
Depends on the situation. I shoot digital and film, and there are a lot of tricks for both depending on what results you're trying to get and what you have to work with.
Problems could be: Not enough light, bad quality light, light in the wrong spot, no good access to get a shot - a million others.
Any specific situations?

LENSES....
Seriously, handheld meter, tripod. Those are the only two things that get reguar use besides the camera.

In my camera bag, I have:
My main body (F100),
Zoom, telephoto lens and primes (24 and 50mm),
Electronic shutter release,
Flash unit,
Off-body flash cord
Filters (pola, ND)
... and my old faithfull Gitzo
In addition, I always have aspirin and a hat that I use as a shade. I always pack some cleaning cloth and a small brush in case.
... and tons of film... if I don't use them, they go back to the fridge once I'm home!
......and I soooo wish to add much more :D !
One toy that I am really looking forward to get is a light meter!
Cheers,
Steph.

Compact flash card, 70-200 lens about 75% of the time, camera strap. Rarely use much else, not even a tripod.

EOS 10D, EOS 1D Mk II

Re: Your equipment....
Well, I shoot mostly LF and MF, so other then the cameras and lenses: film holders, light meter, heavy duty bogen tripod, loupe, dark cloth, lens wrench, assortment of filters and filter holders, cable releases, 18% grey card, bag bellows, normal bellows, lens hoods, cleaning brush and blower... That's about it... Puting it that way it sounds like a lot, but it's not so bad... Oh yeah... and a good stop watch and some spreadsheets to keep track of the film holders...

Re: Your equipment....
My primary cameras are an Olympus OM-3 and OM-1N with an OM-G as backup.
I have a few different bags that I use as the occasion warrants; holster type, backpack, small regular case, huge regular case & a couple of Pelicans.
There's the small, light tripod for hikes and the big Bogen. The cable release.
Polarizers. Lens hoods. Boy did I learn my lesson on the importance of lens hoods.
Occasionally I use a ring light and a regular shoe-mount Sunpak.
And of course my children; 24mm f2.8, 35mm f2, 50mm f1.8, 90mm f2, 180mm f2.8 and every once in a while the 300 f4.5.
Damn! I gotta get the kids out of the house today.
