I normally don't like abstracts -- this one I love!

Taken circa 1998 with my very first digital camera: an Olympus something-or-other-500,
with a whopping 0.8 megapixels. I keep this because I was so amazed at how well it
turned out, and I even printed it at 8x10.

Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
I try to change mine every month or two. I just changed mine tonight. I took these two in the local mountains over the weekend. They're a bit dark but the sky looks better that way.

Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
Because I'm playing with my new macro lens.
Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
That macro lens's bokeh is really nice, Frog. :)
Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
Thanks Alex. I know about bokeh but never think of it when shooting.
Maybe the macro will change that.

Just a picture of my children. Hope it gets nice out here soon. Sick of all the white snow.
Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
Beautiful macro shot, Frog!

Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
I like to use my own shots. I prefer them to be of nature and I like them to have a nice texture that will sit well when I have a lot of windows open or my desktop is covered with icons (i clean it up every couple of months but they have a habbit of growing back) I also run two monitors. sometimes I duplicate the shot across both but recently I have been choosing a shot that will spread over both. this recent one was stretched (not cropped) in photoshop. I then grabbed the hills which had gotten a little bit too thin and put them back in at their original size with a layer mask.

Yep, that's me and my teddy bear. I think I was about 3 or 4. Now I'm, um, older

I've changed mine to one of the first photos I posted on PR. It reminds me where I started. - TF

These are in order-->
My work desktop now --> as a joke
My work desktop when we were having a layoff in a month --> as a joke and a talisman to keep the firing gods from noticing me.
My laptop --> Kasiakia Falls (probably misspelling that) at Starved Rock State Park. I got the laptop not long after that trip.
My home desktop --> One of my all time favorite pictures I ever took.
Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
MIne has changed. Took this last week, I think. Oh, why? I just love the soft brightness and the colors.

I have, quite a few times in fact. My current is a shot I got of a Gaboon Viper last time I was at the zoo. Before that was my GF Carla with her first red fish.

Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
Whipped up a new desktop today and thought I'd share  The "why?" should be pretty self explanatory! My 8 month old iMac has officially surpassed all my windows machines combined (10 years worth) in number of days in the shop for repair...

I just use the apple earth shot wallpaper. After installing windoze in a partition, I use a moonshot there. That way I easily know what OS I'm in. One of the only reasons I runs Windoze is for ProShow producer.

Had her for a year and a half now.
The basketball was her birthday present on July 31.
She loves this ball and I love the smug satisfies look on her face.
Re: Your Desktop Photo... Why?
I'll play!
I usually cycle fairly frequently through the different monitors, but here's the one currently on my desktop
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcmurdie/5169854872/" title="Untitled by PrevailingConditions, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1355/5169854872_28201568c1_b.jpg" width="1024" height="640" alt="" /></a>
And here's the one currently on one of the laptops:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcmurdie/4482917027/" title="Surf at Sunset by PrevailingConditions, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4034/4482917027_c20a187751_o.jpg" width="800" height="543" alt="Surf at Sunset" /></a>
As for why? I'm not really sure other than I get bored of what's on there and change to something else. Usually my own shots, but I do keep a desktop widget that pulls my favorites from flickr and other sites to help keep me inspired.
Thanks,
PC
