We were talking about how sexy we are!

Well - I am American, I won't deny that. Nor will I apologize for it. One's nationality shouldn't be spat out with derision, I can't help where my parents birthed and raised me. I think asking about one's profession is just a cultural difference. I would never, however, ask how much money someone makes. I live in New York City, and a lot of people move to this city to "make it here." They move here for their career; I came to NYC to be an artist. In such a career-driven city, it is perfectly natural and expected to ask what someone does for a living. Around these parts, it's called networking. It also helps to generate - conversation? Because that person may say, "Hey, I do this, but I'm really interested in doing that..." and socializing ensues. Brilliant!

My comment about being hot because I'm an artist was about as serious as I took that article - meaning not very. Teh article is a bit of fluff to bring people to the website so the website gets business and makes money.

And that, most certainly, love it or hate it (it's your choice) is the American entrepreneurial spirit.

And as an artist, I'M TOO SEXY FOR THIS THREAD! :D

In France unemployment is 12 or 13% in the USA it is like 3 or 5 %. The reason being, we tend to live our dreams because we can. In France you have to take any job you can get to earn a living. In America you don't have a job, you make one up and start your own business.

The French are still sour over the US having to save their butts from the Germans in the 40's.:eek:

Nope. Not true. These are two totally different things (and an important point I forgot to make in my earlier post).

I never ask someone how much money they make, nor judge them based on what they do for a living. I can't speak for every American, but in my case it is simply a genuine interest in the variety of life and the things that make people different.

Or, on occasion, just pleasant small talk...

I am especially fascinated by people that are skilled at things that I'm not very good at, which is why I consider myself extremely lucky to have the job I have.

Which BTW, I'd be happy to tell you about if you just ask me... :D

I mean, how can you talk to someone about their life without wanting to know what they do?

We're looking at highs in the low teens. Highs which will probably hit around 1pm, by 5:30 kickoff, it's going to be 0 or below.

I know I'm giving away my age here, but I did watch the first infamous Ice Bowl against Dallas (with Bart Starr!) on tv. Ok, I was a little tyke, but comparisons are obvious. Too bad it's not Dallas this year, eh?

But, Favre himself said this week that he has hardly ever played in conditions like that during his time at Green Bay. Hard to believe, but...

Heck I wish I was sexy, I was 30 to 40 years ago but I'm old balding an on the overweight side, stuff has stopped working, and I need glasses to see. I'm lucky as I don't have arthritis. I'm not in a sexy profession but I one of the lucky one I do enjoy my job.:p :D

*whew* When I saw the title I thought I might see bare butts like I remember seeing (and I'm still trying to forget) some time last year on this forum. If memory serves me correctly, they were mostly of men's A$$'es too - with no makeup or airbrushing.

Don't even think of opening that can of worms again.

Getting right back to the subject - I think that Adina's new Avatar is sexy. I take no risk in saying this, Adina is an Artist therefore sexy according to the definition in the article.

I don't think having certain job automatically makes you sexy, but it may help to develop your potential. With actors it's obvious. I had doubts about nurses and firefighters and then when I thought about those I knew I saw it could be true.

Why are Artists sexy? Can it be because they have a sort of rebellious, bohemian spirit? Or is it their charisma? Very useful to havecharisma if you want to do pictures of people, it makes them pay attention and want to be photographed.
