    Just a few . . .

When at the end of a day of shooting you have more flash cards than business cards left.

"Hey, aren't you the guy who takes pictures?" . . . in a hospital ER . . . by the staff.

"I really like the photo of (fill in blank) you took" and you have to just smile and say thank you because you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHO THIS PERSON IS OR WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

From the olden days of lots of film.

The E6 lab calls and asks if you'd mind waiting an extra hour because they had to refill a reservoir in a tank before starting your job.

The Credit Card bill has more charges for film, processing, and reprints than everything else including food combined. (Gas Prices quickly took care of this recently)

You have to empty the little fridge in the Rec Room of film before the ball game to have a place for beer.

    ...and one more...

The deep freeze offers the choice of 3 speeds of b/w, 2 bricks each of Astia, Provia, and Velvia for dinner. There's got to be something in here to eat . . .

    Here's one:

You start making clicking noises like a shutter every time you see something photogenic.

And (for those of you who develop your own):

Your wife asks you what that new cologne you are wearing is and you reply, "Fixer."

The best I can do on short notice . Perhaps we could glean out the good ones at the end and make a Top Ten list perhaps...

I rarely have anything printed, but I get the second one everytime I don't bring my piece.

I also get, "What, No tripod?"

And, "Hey, Where are your other lenses?"

I've considered it. But it's the $$$$ that is holding me back.

    Digital Camera = $$$$$

    New Computer = $$$$

Upgraded RAM and Memory = $$$$$

    Photo Printer = $$$$

    You get the idea.

I can afford $10 a pop for film and $10 a pop for developing a whole lot easier.

But thanks for the encouragement anyway! ;-)

Re: You know you shoot too many photos when...

You spend 3 days after a 3 day shoot processing the images on your PC.
A day's shooting of RAW imags won't fit on a DVD.
Your friends think you're naked without a camera.
The photo printers look forwad to seeing you, and the challengs of getting your photos right instead of the usual P&S but "it'll take an extra hour" becaue they recalibrate the machine for your photos.
The photo printers know that after an F1 test weekend you'll be there.

    Success comes when ...
Someone you photographed at an event a year ago spots you at this year's event and has been trying to track you down for 12 months to get a photo you took of them.
A racing driver reaches for his wallet to buy a 3x5 you took yesterday that you wanted him to sign as a souvenir.
A photographer in the press enclosure hands you a tabard and asks you to go down on tot he rally stage and shoot a particular car for them.
The marshal on the best corner on the stage gives you a business card because they want photos of them riding in the car later on (they looked over your shoulder and like the shots).

Oh and you actually sell something !!

Nearest I've got so far is some images going to Steiff Germany to appear on the UK Steiff Gallery website.

Had this happen a few months ago - My lab is open M-Th 8 to 6 and Fri 8-4. I forgot they closed early on Fridays and stopped there at about 5:30 to pick up some proofs. I walked up to the door (next to a big window) and it was locked - then I saw the sign and remembered... I got about a 1/2 mile down the road and my phone rang - they told me they were still there so if I wanted to come back they'd take care of me. Apparently they saw the confused look on my face thru the window when figured out the door was locked. They're a big help!

    BTW, Speed,

I thought Digital was too expensive, too. However, in a year my camera was paid for by what I saved by the ability to "delete" before print.

Hmm and Digital Cant cure printing cost! I aslo save money by Bracketing with a digital compact, but I find I need to do that less these days.

I get moaned at for leaving film in the fridge and I find ways to hide it!
I do know the name of the guy at the lab at ASDA (Wal-mart) He is 28 and he shows off his OM-10 with F1.4 lens and T20 flash somtimes and shows me prints, one time he told me he was walking around the city taking pictures until 1 o'clock just using a flash, He was like "I shot 6 rolls of film last night" I still can't imagine what he was taking photos of with A FLSH GUN 200 ASA cheap print film untill 1 o'clock in the morning. I can't get my head round that.

    Or

They hide every time they see you....

...your friends only know the left side of your face.

...your friends say "I knew you were coming so I didn't bring my camera!" (then proceed to direct you on which photos they want you to take)

... your friends don't stop and pose anymore (I like this one!)
