    Yikes
This afternoon when I got home from work we had some storms moving through the area but it wasn't raining right then and I talked to my neighbor for a couple minutes. About a minute after I went into my house I heard a strange kinda roaring noise. Around here one thing you often hear from people who've experienced a tornado is that there was a sound like a rushing train. I looked out the window and the wind was blowing like mad between the house and the garage. I headed toward the basement stairs but the wind was dying down before I got there.
When I went out a few minutes later this is what I saw in front of my nextdoor neighbor's house. There was one other house down the street that had a rotten old tree leaning against it but that seemed to be the only real damage. That's as close as I want to get to being in a tornado. I don't think this was strong enough to be one, but it sure scared me.

Afterwards I took a drive to look around and like the way the clouds looked over St Lawrence church just east of town.

Yeah, I would be heading for the stairs too! It looked pretty threatening here to the west, but since the storm was moving north, it headed your direction instead. Very fortunate about which way the tree fell in your neighbor's yard!

Hey Chunk, I love your middle church photo. My desk is right by a big window at work (the only thing I like about my job) and I watched the storm roll in and out yesterday. There was some really nice lightning right outside the window and I was wishing I had brought my camera to work. Not sure they would like to seem me taking photos while on the clock tho. :) I am so jealous that you got to take some photos of the storm clouds. I had to go to the eye Dr. with my girlfriend after work, and I just stared at the clouds the entire way there. Again, no camera with me. :( Again, I really like the middle photo, and it's good to know that you came out of the storm unscathed.

Thanks Steve. If that tree had fallen 180 degrees from where it did, it would have been in my bedroom.

Thanks Mike. I was kinda agressive with curves adjustments and color balance in these shots and had to do some lab color mode noise suppression as well. I'm looking forward to seeing them in print. I was real happy with how the 'lake' looks in the middle shot. Its actually the top of my car. I think I may use it that way again in similar dark circumstances.

    Chunk,

Scary stuff. I saw in the news in LA about a tree that landed on a motorist driving. He was driving, 35 mph, and it just landed on him and killed him. THAT must be a sign that the big guy upstairs said it was your time. Amazing.
