It's not how BIG your camera is.

been a busy month speaking at seminars and such. While I was In Toronto this past weekend for the Photo Expo, I picked up a small Canon Powershot 3.5mp camera.

On the way home yesterday I put it to the test.

Thing with P&S camera's is that you really need to get the best image in camera as possible. I found myself using the viewfinder instead of the lcd, shooting in manual mode so I can adjust depth of field faster, and I alwasy checked my histogram, and White balance. I discovered what it felt like when you first get into photography. I had so much fun yesterday, and saw things that I probably wouldn't have shot with all my big gear.

Who says you cannot get great images with P&S? It goes to show, the fundamentals in photography never change, only technology.

Here are some from yesterday. I increased sat in a few for the fall colors, and did some custom burning.

Great work, and very true - some of my favorites from a recent trip were the ones I took with my Coolpix 5000 (kind of getting old in the world of those cameras).

Great images, Hodgy! Did you do much post processing in PS? Think I'll put the big camera away for a while and try to rekindle my creative vision with the G2. Thanks for the inspiring photos

Nope, not alot, just adjusted contrast, increased sat to bring out the colors and a little burning. Some I used my contrasoft action, but at a very low opacity.

Here in Texas fall hasn't come yet. Usually the 2nd week in Nov. is peakish around here, and I can't wait to see some colors. Of course my area doesn't really compare to those beautiful Aspens.

What is the largest size print you would create with your P&S files?
