    wrong lens

    right place
    right time
    wrong lens
    300mm was not the right choice
    it wouldn't focus close enough
    everything is soft

    It worked a lot better with the second body grabbed off my other shoulder and the 24-70

    I just swung the 300mm round as I caught a glimpse of bright yellow out of the corner of my eye, then realised as I looked through the viewfinder they were already too close.

    That was too bad, I guess there were obstructions behind you preventing you to quickly move back...maybe next time.

    Moving back with the 300mm would have meant giving up the hole in the pit lane fence someone had made - I wanted to keep taking track shots too.
    So I grabbed the 1DS with 24-70 and kept shooting
