I was updating "The List" of Nikon Samurai's, and I realized that number five was vacant. So who is number 5? I'm thinking it's Nat, but it could be Old Timer. "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most."

    # 3- Kokopeli
    # 4- Walterick

    # 7- Another View
    # 8- MJS
    # 9- Deckcadet
    #10- Prbowhay
    #11- Van A

Nikon Samurai #9 Reporting for duty :)
At last I see who else is among us....what a mystery.
I may be young but I too know what its like to lose one's mind.......As dan quayle said...
"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."
Will the real #5 please stand up..please stand up.

(You know I love you and that I am teasing you...)

"Can you ever forgive me?" he cried, as he got down on his knees, pleading for forgiveness for his gross oversight.

"...what is keeping me from qualifying?"

Nothing whatsoever! You are now officially Nikon Samurai # 10!!!

Aha! I thought so! Which means I never put your name in that slot. I feel awful about that. It's terrible to suffer from CRS (Can't Remember Stuff).

Now the list no longer has any spaces in it!

Re: Would Nikon Samurai # 5 Please Step Forward
I am sorry to say have never had that supreme honor bestowed upon me. I hope that I meet qualification standards besides the D70 purchased in April 04 I am the proud owner of 6 other Nikons dating back to January 1972 when after my Pentax was stolen I purchased a black body F with phototomic head. To me that was the coolest camera ever and is still in my camera cabinet and still works as well as it did in 72. It was followed by a Nikkormat, FM, F2, FE and the N80. All still live in my camera cabinet along with an assortment of other cameras and assesories. Not all are still in good working order but all were very servicable in their time. I would very much like to have the tiltle of Nikon Samurai confered upon me. If possible as you evaluate candidates and assign numbers please consider me for #13, a number that has been special to me since I donned my first Little League uniform nearly 50 years ago.

There's always room for another Nikon Samurai.

    Is Nikon Samurai # 7.

So Van A is #11, #12 is (temporarily) vacant, (I don't like skipping a space, but Old Timer is obviously a die hard Nikon fan, so an exception is being made for him), and OT is getting his wish to be # 13.

The list is already updated at Nikon Samurai Headquarters. ;-)

But now he has gone over to the dark side, and is an agent of evil.

He is also living proof that it's the photographer, not the camera, that makes the image. If he can make his images look that good with a Canon thingy, he must be a damn good photographer!!! :-O

Meanwhile, those with discriminating taste quietly continue to shoot their Nikons...

    Don't feel bad....

Besides, a camera is just a tool. We ALL can make images with any brand camera.

I refuse to sell my nikon gear, though I could use the cash to buy WHITE LENSES ;)

Do I look like the kind of guy who has $9000 burning a hole in his pocket?

Besides which, if I did have one, I'd probably use it twice and leave it in the safe. At 10.7 pounds, I wouldn't want to lug that thing around much. Which would be a terrible waste of a fine lens, not to mention that $9000 I don't have.

I'll leave the BIG glass to guys like Moose Peterson and Paul Almendinger, who would put them to good use.

I've driven by the City Of Salt, but never stopped there. A Samurai gathering sounds good to me. We'll have to rotate where we meet. Maybe have a gathering in Utah, then one in the NC/VA area, then maybe one down in Florida or Texas or LA (that's Lower Alabama for those above the Mason/Dixon line). :-O
We'll have to see who would be up for one and when. I've got a sleeping bag, how many square feet is your house? ;-)
