A Winter Walk In The Woods

Managed to get out for a nice hike today. Brought along a few rolls of Acros 100 to try out in the Rolleicord. Very happy with it so far. Here's a few shots from the outting...

Thanks Paul :D I was really pumped when I spotted the first shot, though I was a little disappointed in the end. As I saw it there were some real strong sun rays coming through the trees. Unfortunately I couldn't capture it on film :(

I know the feeling. Capturing that kind of thing is always harder than it seems. But, considering the extreme contrast you were dealing with, I think you did a great job with exposure and development.

When we get snow I don't drive the first day. There too many persons that think they can drive in show, especially the ones with all wheel drive (4 by 4's and Jeeps) they can get going but they can't stop. On the second day I chain up and go anyplace I want to as all the want a bees have 1) gave up or 2) car is in the body shop.

It's so much fun just seating in a warm restaurant with a window looking out to a hill. Just eating and watching the drivers try to get up the hill and play bumper cars.

Really freygr? That bad there during a snow storm? Most here, except the Mass. tranplants, knows how to drive in the snow. I LOVE driving out in the snow, especially on the backroads. It's good fun and no, I don't have any big 4 wheel drive, just a little VW Golf :D

We now only get snow once every two years maybe, down from yearly for days (up into the 70's). Now we have a lot of Southern California transplants and they play bumper cars with the first heavy rain we have after a dry spell, or they seem to forget how to drive in the rain after the summer, the same thing with snow.

Ahhh, so your SoCal transplants are much like our Massachusetts transplants :D They come up here and think instantly that since they have a Hummer or Excursion that they can drive fine in the snow...LOL Then after a couple fender benders they go the complete opposite direction and drive 15mph when the first flake falls :mad2:

G## talk about locals getting upset with 15 mile per hour on wet pavement, but it there is black ice oh well...... One morning going to the stables a pickup truck lost it on a patch of black ice and took out a telephone pole ended up on his roof! We drove by minutes later with all the fire trucks ext. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

Guilty as charged :blush2: My main issue though isn't so much that they do 15 miles per hour on the back roads and where conditions call for it. My big issue is that these same people, when they come to a nicely plowed and sanded residential/school district, will do 45 or 50 :mad2:

Hey Aaron, I just noticed the Holga stuff you added. Cool stuff! Not that I don't like the others too, but the Holga works very well with these contrasty snow scenes. Keep it up! :thumbsup:

Aaron the Pacific NW snow is really wet and it just turns to ICE when cars pack it down. Last year when it snowed it was a 3 hour ride home 12.5 miles. I grew up in Delaware and know how to drive in it. it is ridiculous

Same thing happens here a lot. We're not to far from the coast so 90% of the time we either get wet snow or we get good fluffy snow that melts and freezes the next day :(

the first one in the first series ~ the others seem a little fuzzy.

perhaps it's my monitor but please say it ain't.

just spent 700 bucks at the dealership for the 60 k service ~ plus all of the little bits extra that "needed fixing."


no little camera accessories for me for a while.

The first series all seem fine sharpness wise to me. The negatives are tack sharp but, a little of that is lost in resizing for the web. The second series of course is fuzzy as it's a Holga. Don't remind me about the dealership. I have my 85k service coming up on my VW :(

It's getting so bad that you have to go to the dealer to be serviced or you can use the warranty. Plus all the costly special tools needed to work on the newer cars it's very costly to do all your own servicing. Now just finding any one other than a dealer to work on any card is getting far and few between. Ever oil change it's over a hundred bucks on the 2006 newer car we have.

It like TV repair shops, very few now days. How many even know what a vacuum tube is?
