    Where is everybody?

This forum used to be hoppin'! I was quite surprised when I looked in the critique section and saw that one of my photos was in the top 3, and hadn't been posted on in 4 days. I expected it to be buried. Do you think that the sites changes have pushed some away? I do know that it used to be much more convenient. However I wasn't around when the changes took place so I don't know exactly why they happened.

Yeah Shawn the site seems like it's been becalmed for some time now, not sure how to fix it though, guess we'll just have to keep plodding along and hope for an upturn

    Re: Where is everybody?

I left for awhile because the spam was driving me nuts, but when I came back I noticed that things had really died off too. Not sure if it was anything specific about this site that drove people away, or if competition from social media, flikr, 500px, etc took folks in different directions. There are a handful of diehards, hminx, GB1, Armando, JimmyB, and a few others who've kept things alive here. I do miss the activity that first drew me here, and haven't found another forum that provides the learning and interaction that this place used to. Maybe if PhotoJohn added "Like" buttons to all the posted images, more people would post here , as that seems to be all most people care about anymore.

    Re: Where is everybody?

We have had some problems, such as several months with more spam than postings, the 10-post requirement before posting, difficulty posting images since the new 'design' (this is a photography forum) and difficulty welcoming new members with the many page Welcome thread. There have been several occasions when I would have given up if I didn't feel obligated with Mod duties.

    Re: Where is everybody?

This site is where my photography heart is. I've learned so much here and made some good friends.

I kinda started slacking off here when my business picked up and when I would try to post pics it was painstaking to say the least. It just took me 5 minutes to post a photo in the Canon forum. Also I used to love the project forum. The photo of the month hasn't been changed in months if not a year or so. What's the point? It took the fun out of it for me.
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

Definitely a cool thing, but it can also be simple psychology. We see nature since day one, hence that is what is "natural" to us and our eyes. If we grew up seeing nothing but hospital walls until the age of 10, and then saw red and yellow tulips in bright green grass, it may be a bit of a shock.

Why are you posting the signature line from the user 4 posts above yours as if it's your own thought???

    Re: Where is everybody?

I have been posting...rain or shine here at PR for ten years now... I won't be stopping any time soon. You can take that to the bank.

Post a pic or two in the photo gallery AND have fun.
