    What a lucky guy!!
I saw one daughter off on a big adventure this weekend, but I still have a couple of pretty good looking gals that call my home theirs. My wife Joy and my youngest daughter Sarah as she prepared to head back to college Sunday afternoon.

You must HAVE to stay on your toes...all those women...great mom and daughter shot.

For a professional grouch, you sure made out like a bandit to have such lovely ladies in your life :)

    Great Portrait!
This is an excellent portrait IMO. Beautiful faces, smiles - genuine happiness. What a special (beautiful) moment, and it's all captured in the image. This is what photography is all about, capturing what is in the heart - this photo says it all.

The composition is excellent, and the lighting just right..........you certainly have a photographers eye. I'm enjoying your photos a lot. Please keep posting.

This is a very nice portrait! Good job dealing with what looks like a difficult metering situation.

As Liz said, you've captured some beautiful smiles!!

    Thanks!
Thanks to those that responded to this husband and father's pride shot. I know there is nothing that is great or lasting about this image other than the memory. I agree with you Liz that this is what photography is all about sometimes. For the last 32 years I have been taking every opportunity to capture these kind of images of my family. We have albums upon ablums of family photos and box after box of slides. Now we have added a hard drive with several thousand images. The digital is great because I can share images the same day with my children that are now all away from home. When one is home for a visit they all can feel apart of it with photos of thier siblings and images of home weather they are in Texas like my oldest son or now Tennessee like my daughter. Photos have always been special around our house and have added alot to our family gatherings and get togethers. I wish more of us would share these treasured moments with photos.

    suggestion
    Larry,
I was thinking about this photo. It really is good. Maybe you should try some portrait work with a solid background. I bought some black velvet on sale really cheap. You can get backdrops at the fabric store, online....make your own, or use a wall; however with the wall you have to be very careful......then you need lighting, etc. However you seem to do very well with available lighting. I would try it - I think the composition, lighting, etc. here are excellent. You may want to work on this........just a suggestion from seeing your work here.

    Liz :)

    Thanks Liz
Thanks Liz for your observations. I think that more credit is due to the models than the photographer in this case. It really was a grab shot. They have just gotten so use to me with the camera over the years that they really are at ease. I did get some background cloths several years ago and worked at portraiture a little, but lacked the the lighting that I need and I have just always felt more comfortable working with natural light. Thanks very much for the compliment.
