I think you better find a way to move back. I know I feel the same when I leave the lush, green East for the mostly parched, brown West. - TF
I'm working on it.

What a fantastic thread! I want to read the other answers when I am done posting. For me it's almost simple, I have a passion for life and everything in mine. I have always marched to my own drummer and not always liked the beat but... it goes on as they say lol I dont just see motorcycles, cars, flowers, I try (and will keep learing) to see beyond the object and look at its surroundings. The ideas and confidence I get from this site alone have made me a much better photographer, and I am looking forward to finding that same passion through the eye of my new 50D! (I just love these kind of threads!)

This is indeed a deep question, and I've been thinking about it for a while now.
Some of the things that inspire me:
Seeing other photographers hone their craft gives me hope that I too can excel and evolve. I don't know that there will ever be a level where I'm comfortable, as I think the bar keeps moving, but then again, that's as it should be.
The collaborative generosity of other photographers, here and in my local community continues to inspire me as well. The fact that others would help for no other reason or personal gain than to see me improve is an amazing phenomenon.
Reading or hearing that others are happy with my artistic vision and choices also provides a lot of inspiration (and sometimes a bit of disbelief :lol.
There are those here and elsewhere that over the past year and a half have taught me to see, which provides an almost limitless amount of inspiration. Although I don't always have the camera with me, and even when I do I may not be able to capture the shot, I seem to be able to *see* 500 to 1000 great photos a day in my regular travels, so I guess the world around me is the biggest inspiration of all.
There are many things that inspire me - to try and sum it up in a few words;
Capturing that moment in time that is preserved for others to see and observe, or that moment in time that others have seen fit to capture and present for all to see.
Along with that, learning and improving technic with the existing equipment you have, and developing the ability to "see" certain situations or subjects that may, or may not inspire others, but will satisfy your own personal desire to capture those particular moments in time. :thumbsup:

I find inspiration in more things than I can count...People are amazing. I’m constantly amazed at the accomplishments people achieve every day. But for me, getting inspired by people alone isn’t enough. The majority of my inspirations are actually drawn from nature and travel.
