Pulled pork would be at the top of my list. And second. And third. Pulled pork is always high on my list.

Re: What to do in Memphis?

This is so funny I saw the heading and though Pork BQ what other reason to go to Memphis. I clicked on the thread and everyone had beat me to the punch. Hope you like pulled pork cause we're all going to ask when you get back. I just got back from butchers I bought 25lbs or Boston Butt that I'm going to slow cook in my smoker Saturday and turn it into pulled pork BQ for about 40 people. I've done it every year since 1999 on Labor Day weekend. WE call it our, "Butt Smokin Bash".

I just wish I lived closer to Kentucky because I would crash that party in a second OT.

Re: What to do in Memphis?

    Wow,

    NOBODY has mentioned Beale Street?

Music, bars, food, THE BLUES, great photo ops of houses and structures (some of the best this type since N.O. has had issues with moisture, ahemmm.)

    Did I mention The Blues?

    Pulled Pork you say?

Ya'll want a hog roast? Got kin in that area run a 'wagon. Fairly close to Memphis anyway.

Or just let me know and generally with a week or two notice (particularly this time of year) and we can get a pit dug, find some dry fruit wood (or just use Big Ron's official Hog Roaster on Wheels) and enough eats for very many hungry folks will shortly emerge.

Sebastian, have a good trip. Did I mention, go hear some Blues, a Chicagoan as yourself will appreciate the scene.

Re: What to do in Memphis?

I should have also mentioned that nothing goes with BQ like the Blues. Got to hit Beal Street that's what Memphis is all about.

That's all I'd need! Of course tons of live music would be a big plus, and I think I need to see Graceland once in my life (I have no idea why).

Have fun in Memphis Sebastian. I went once, only briefly, I never forgave myself for not going to Graceland. I like street performers myself. I took some pictures of street performers in New Orleans with a 3d camera a few years back. I wish I could find the pictures....
