Well, I saved my camera from getting broken!
But had to sacrifice my face! I was in a car accident last week and have been a tad off balance ever since - going for a CD Head scan because of the headache i've had since the accident. I was standing perfectly still tonight, my mother called to me and I turned around and completely lost my balance and started going down - I was holding my camera in front of me so I hugged it so it wouldn't get hurt and my face went down first - my mother said it was probably the most comical fall she'd ever seen in her life! But hey, I had my brand new wide angle lens on and didn't want to sacrifice it!

My God, what a thing to happen. Make sure you ice it up regularly and get some anti clot cream to help with the bruising. Certainly ice will help, but look at a good week for it to start diappearing.

God news about not hurting the camera.

Hope the scan reveals nothing terrible.

Absolutley - save the camera :D ! Bruises can heal, broken lenses can't!

Seriously though, I hope you're all right.

    Oh no.......
I'm so sorry to hear you were in an accident. :( I hope everything is fine and back to normal very soon.

Yes, all of us photographers have that automatic reflex action of protecting our cameras and lenses at all costs. I did the same thing one time and fell off of my bike. I didn't care about my bleeding leg......but how's the camera?

    Keep us updated.

I remember when Gene, Penny, me and my wife, and Brian went up to Yosemite...Brian slipped or something and the next thing I know he's falling to and rolling on the ground–but the camera was sticking straight up in the air! Good save, Brian.

Anyhow, we all hope nothing comes of this scan other than you just have a headache. It may turn out to be whiplash or that your vertebrae are out of alignment, in which case you'll need to see a chiropractor. But we'll pray it's nothing serious.

Brave girl...going down head first and then showing off your owie!

I Admire Your Dedication To Your Equipment

But, equipment can be replaced - You Can't!!!

Cradling your equipment, holding it up (such as above water), and otherwise keeping it out of harms way is very commendable. But not at the expense of yourself and your well being!

You are a BRAVE girl, but please, don't bang yourself up like that again! We can take up a collection to replace a broken lens - we can't fix a broken you.

Take care and I hope you heal soon!!!
