Just joined today. From Dixie County Florida and I mostly take photos of birds. That gives me a better chance of being able to ID them. :)
hoping to lean the best way to blow them up close without blurring and to keep file size small.

Just registered on this site. I live in Euless, TX., am 78 years old, retired from American Airlines and worked most of my life in the field of aircraft/spacecraft simulation. I will photograph anything if it's interesting or not. Can't be fussy at my age. I will be using the classifieds if I can figure out the process. Some of you might remember me from Steve's.

    Oh Hi There,

Getting a new hobby up and running but more than just interested. I like Macro photography. I have a Canon 20D on the way and just about to purchase a tripod. Going to get cam and acquire lenses, then get nicer cam down the road. Yes, I already know this is the way to do it...I do research on every penny that leaves my pocket. :)

Hello to the forum. My name is Jack Merskin, from Illinois, USA. I have been taking pictures off an on for about 50 years. I have used numerous cameras from 35mm through 4X5.

I currently have both a Sony A100 and A200. I also have a couple of Panasonic, and an Olympus.

The problem I am having is with the A200. I recently picked up a Tokina ATX 80-400mm and noticed that the pictures are not centered in the frame on playback. I tried a 28-105 Minolta with the same results. I tried both lenses on the A100 with no problems. I have never dropped the A200 or forced the mounting.

Has anyone had any experience like this?

Howdy howdy! I am a long time MTBR.com forum poster who has always loved to snap and share photos of my friends on mountain bikes. In August of 2011, I took the jump from a P&S to a DSLR, and WOW! The purchase of the Canon T3i rocked my world like nothing has in a long, long time. As a scientist/engineer type, my mind is now always thinking of the next shot, a better way to get the previous shot, gear I need to buy, methods I need to try, etc. Learning something new has never been so much fun!! My favorite subjects are mountain bikers, dogs, and astro-landscapes. Most recently, my Dad and I just went in together on a 5D Mark III. I hope to share some of my images soon!

Welcome! Always happy to have another mountain biker here on the site, DurtGurl! If you're looking to improve your mountain bike photos, make sure to check out the Sports Photography Forum. There are a few of us cycling photographers here and we've got a few tricks up our sleeves that we might be willing to share :)

On a Sony, that generally means that the Image Stabilization has quit working leaving the sensor off center. Is the IS indicator in the viewfinder flashing - even when IS is turned off? - Terry

Hi! My name is Katherine from New York City. I was just given a Vivicam 5024 by a friend who no longer uses it. Although obsolete, it is my first digital camera and I'm enjoying learning how to use it. I love animals and nature and want to learn as much as possible about digital photography and, when ready, move on to a DSLR.

Hi all. I'm Mike from Cincinnati. Been involved with photography since childhood over 50 years. Startew with Mom's old Brownie. Graduated to my 1st 35mm, a old Leica in Jr High. Bought my 1st SLR, a Miranda D, in high-school.

Several SLRs later, I graduated to CanonEOS A2e then the EOS3.

First DSLR was a EOS 10D. Stayed with it until a few years ago when I bought my EOS 50D. (Instead of upgrading camera, I bought lots of "L" glass) As for new camera or lenses, we'll see what the future holds.

I consider myself a very advanced amateur. I'd love to quit work and turn pro, but it's probably too late for that:mad2:

I shoot mainly scenics (MrsM and I are National Park hoppers) and racing (auto and boat)

NOW A QUESTION. This is the only forum that I belong to (travel, guns, photography, auto racing) that lists the newest post 1st and the starter post last. Most of these forums use the same vBulletin engine as this forum.

I don't want to anger anyone by questioning the forum, just looking for something that I am used to.

Is there a way to reverse this order to logically folow thread from 1st to last post????

Welcome to PR. I think all will agree that there's nothing like good glass.

My posts are listed oldest first, but I don't know how to change it. At least you know that there is an answer.

    Hi all,

My name is Jim. I started in photography in Southeast Asia in 1971 with a Pentax Spotmatic with several lenses. Over the years I had used a Canon AE-1, A-1, Nikon FM and more recently a Canon T1i and now a 20D. I just purchased a Nikon V1 from Adorama for $399 and should have it tomorrow. I am a hobbyist looking forward to improving my picture taking.

    Hi everyone!
I guess I'm what you'd call a casual photographer. Mostly point and shoot until I was given a hand-me-down A2 (35mm) when my husband started MX racing in 2001. Four years ago he started Sidecar racing (passenger). When he announced that, I announced that a DSLR was coming (enter D300)

I've really enjoyed shooting at the race track, however knee problems have expedited hubby's retirement from the sport.

So, I am left with a lot of equipment and a need/desire to learn how to use it better and maybe shoot subjects that aren't moving 80 mph!

Hoping to pick up some tips and advice here. Not to mention enjoying the fantastic shots I've seen other members post.
    Cheers!

    New Member Posting?
I am a new member, who haas visited these forums previously. I tried to start a new thread but was prompted that I need to make at least 5 posts before I can start a thread. If I can't start a thread, does that mean I need to post 5 replies to existing threads? I have not encountered this rule on other forums.

FYI - I am a pro retoucher, photo illustrator & nature/wildlife shooter -in that order. (I don't retouch the last category) I am in the process of updating my website & had hoped to ask pro forum members what photo portfolio template brands they might recommend. There don't seem to be any objective reviews for the various offerings online.

So do I need to post 5 replies to existing threads to pose the above question in a new thread?

    Thanks

    Nick
