    Weekend At Cape Lookout

The wife and I went camping at Cape Lookout last weekend. Here are a few shots from that outing.

    1 - Cape Lookout

    2 & 3 - Sunset shots

4 - The beach got empty as the sun went down. Our campsite is just to the left of the lighthouse - the blue and white tent.

5 - The Milky Way shot from the beach. 50mm f1.4 lens.

Thanks Michael. I love lighthouses, and I love photographing them. I've probably got over 1000 shots of Cape Lookout by now. And three or four are "good" ones. ;-)

Thanks Larry. Dawn likes that first one as well.

We are blessed to live where we do. We can put our boat over in 20 to 30 minutes, depending on which boat ramp we use. We try to go waterskiing every Saturday, with an occasional campout on Shackleford or Cape Lookout.

Thank you! A dark sky and a fast lens will get you some great night shots.

I see you're from North Dakota. What part? I spent nearly six years in Minot, but I travelled a little around the state - Grand Forks, Dickinson, Devils Lake, etc.

The sunset is just great - the oranges are just warming - excellent capture!!!
and to quote a previous post " The Milky Way shot is Fantastic! "

I do have a question for ya ... we are heading your way the week of the 19 - 24. The first day we are in michigan for the nascar race. The 20th we are in DC. Part of the 21st we are at the naval base in norfolk. The evening of the 21st brings us to the NC coast and into the 22nd. Any particular place you suggest to stay and see for sure ? Something that we should just not miss?

The 22nd we are going to Gibbs racing and heading towards the smokey mountains and taking that back towards the north till we break off and head back toward home. Our plans are very versatile and can change day to day. Any input would be great !

    Speed,

I love lighthouse - stops me hitting land too hard and too soon.

Nice shots, I really like the sunsets.
