    Bullied (warning: Profanities)

Someone I know has endured horrific bullying for the past year. She is now in counseling. It's such a sad thing that happens to the nicest and most innocent kids. This is a copied idea I found online I thought would help her. It did.

JETA you always do such a great job. I not only love the message and composition of this shot, but the technical execution is so dialed I just shake my head. The vignette is prefect IMO and even the use of the flash. How her hand is overexposed with the word STOP in bold black letters and then the shadow cast on the rest of her body... As though the words on the wall are coming at her liike light and her hand is her shield.

    Very powerful stuff. Well done.

I agree. This is a perfectly executed piece. It should hang in every school hallway.

Wow, I'm beyond honored to have such a critique. Thank you so much.

The girl in the photo has asked for a copy to hang in her room. Part of my was surprised. She said she is so proud of her work and feels empowered by it.

Thank you again. I'm printing what your wrote and hanging it in my office. Means so much to me.

Thank you Don. This is exactly what she'd like to do with the photo, but I'm not sure how schools will feel about the profanities. It's real and the truth. Today the photo is being given to the vice-principal of the school where this happened. I'll be curious to find out what his thoughts were.

When I hung the background and read it I lost my breath. The whole shoot was very emotional.

I so agree with you about the crop. I didn't think out the background well enough. I wanted it cropped in a printable size and it took out shoes or text. This is the other crop I had done. Still the shoes are cut out a bit and so is some of the text.

You have taken your photography to another level.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

I agree with the others. This picture should be the poster shot for the problem, absolutely awesome.
You do however need the watermark less of a distraction. Smaller and drop the opacity.

    JETA:

+1 - agree, with the emotional impact - real and true exactly as it is in real life, ... sadly for countless of people....

Very moving piece of photography work... (Two-Thumbs Up)

    Thanks for sharing,

    Thank you!

I know the wm is obtuse. I've had issues with photo theft (from a well-known National scouting site) and now wm my Internet shots obnoxiously to make it more difficult for anyone to claim as their own, ps out or reprint.

    Re: Bullied (warning: Profanities)

Kudos! Bullying is no joke. My daughter got bullied in the 2nd grade by a much larger girl. She hid it the whole year until I found a letter from her bully in her book bag. The look on my daughters face when I saw it was heart breaking. I went to the school to the next day and we took care of it but some aren't so lucky.
    Great cause!

I'm so glad you found the letter. I can only imagine the look on your daughter's face, but I bet relief came as well.

My subject's bullying was found out by things she was writing privately. She is a gifted musician, loved by her teachers, friends and family. A really good citizen.

The bullying went on for over a year by the popular group at her middle school. She internalized it because she was scared if she told the bullying would get worse. It took her to a very dark place.

Today she is in therapy and doing better, but still has a long road of recovery ahead.

I was asked to reshoot her in three months to help illustrate her progress. We'll do the words on the background, but I have a feeling her pose will be different as will be the words.

Now to artistically be able to approach it correctly. I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Bless her heart....it's sad but I'm glad therapy is helping.
