    Toy Camera & Pinhole Gallery
I thought the Holga photographers here would like to know that I just added a Toy Camera and Pinhole category to the new gallery. It's empty, so someone please upload some photos!

    great idea
Could you also add a Vanity gallery...Rick and I and maybe some others would like to have a gallery solely dedicated to ourselves--- for self portraits and self adoration. Maybe even rate our own pics of ourselves for ourselves about ourselves. :D

just kidding ---sort of--- kinda

P.S. I will add to the new gallery once I take in two rolls from my Holga--- I really think it's a great idea!!!

    Dorpping off...
    The color roll tonight.
I'm going to be broke for awhile - an upcoming vacation ended up costing a lot more than Reg and I projectected - but I have to develop *something.*

I've got some pinhole and Holga stuff from New Orleans I've been meaning to post...

But it's gorgeous out in NY and I might not want to be stuck inside at the computer!

    Hey Megan
I love your photos.......thanks for telling us they've been posted. I'm glad you got there first. Really nice photos.

BTW, could you (without much trouble) post your avatar there? I'd love to get a closer look. I really like it - but it's too small!

Sure, I think I've got the original scan on a zip disk somewhere. Hmmm....
I've got a slightly larger version on my site.

    Your website....and photos
    Megan,
This is the first time that I viewed the photos on your website. You have a gift with these cameras. I'm amazed at the quality and composition and light that you capture. The Hong Kong photo really caught my eye.

    BTW, what is "plastic fantastic?"

    Plastic fantastic! [and a ramble]
The plastic fantastic is the nickname of the Holga, though I generally call it "the Almighty Holga."

FYI [changing the subject] I got my state tax return back, so I can actually afford to pick up one of the contact sheets from shooting with you all! :) I'm not normally this pathetically low on fundage, but a trip to a "destination wedding" at a *resort* [these people think money grows on trees?] on the most expensive island in the USVA is forcing me to ration $$ for contact sheets until after June! heh heh heh... Speaking of which, I get to go to B&H and buy FILM - WHEEEEEEEEE - I love going film shopping! I'm like a kid in a candy store! :D

    Thanks...another question
Is it possible to post your pics so that they can be enlarged? Or is it the "limit" (for want of a better word) of the film...or? I'd love to see a larger image. If not, I'm enjoying them the way they are.....no problem.

BTW, I'm really looking forward to seeing the NYC images - please start a new thread when you post them so you can get our (NYC group) attention right away as we're all looking forward to seeing them.

B&H.......yea, I love B&H.......and my wallet shows it! I even go there just to look....and to say hello to my Jewish friends who work there. I tell everyone it is one of NY's tourist attractions (for photographers).

    Have fun shopping! :D

    Enlarging photos
Where do you mean [that you would like to see the photos larger] - on my site or this site? I know in the *gallery* you can click on it and see them larger. I don't do it on my site because:

1.> I just haven't gotten around to it, it's tedious work linking and creating pages <LOL> and I'm in the middle of figuring out how to redesign the site so it's easier for the viewer to figure things out [like "how to purchase a print" - my friend's father wanted to buy one, but couldn't figure out how.]

2.> I want to use it as a place to sell prints, so I don't want to make the images *too* large so people can download them and print them out themselves on their Epsons. Though, I suppose if I watermark the larger images, I should be fine. Just create the watermark once and copy the layer from PSD to PSD...

3.> I don't have prints off everything, so I generally scan from a contact sheet - especially when posting here - so even if the file is large, the image is still low quality because it's from a 2.25"x2.25" contact.

But, since you want to see them bigger, I'll work on that! I want to get some New Orleans work up on my site anyway.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Yeah! And a question???
    John,
I posted my first image in the new galleries.
If I understood the process right, I posted it first in the Critique gallery and also the Landscape and Toy Camera one all at the same time right?
There were three catagories you could select from right? The main one, and then two sub catagories?
So basically, you could put one photo into three catagories with one posting? Right?

    Clarification
    Megan -
I was referring to the Gallery site right here. Check it out - when I click on your photo it comes up - then I click again and it gets larger. HOWEVER, most images in the gallery can be clicked on a 3rd time and get even larger.

Check out Brian's image next to yours on the Toy camera forum. His 2nd click enlargement is larger than your 2nd click - then you can click on it a 3rd time, and it gets very large.

Your website is fine IMO. I wouldn't try to enlarge them any more there - for the very reason you indicated, so people can't download and print the larger ones.

    Liz

    Gotcha!
I'm still used to making small jpegs for the old forums that had to be teeny weenie!
I'll do larger ones next time!

    :)
