    Thursday Night - San Francisco

Ladies and Gentlement - start warming up your tripods!

This is the week for our little SF night photo outing. We're gonna do it on Thursday night. We'll go to Twin Peaks, Treasure Island, and at least one other spot. We need to agree on a time and place to meet. I'd like to meet somewhere for dinner where parking isn't a big deal. Maybe we should pick someplace that's not right in the middle of the City? South City, Brisbane, Daly City or Potrero Hill? What time do you guys want to meet and who has ideas for a good place to meet?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a link to the original discussion about a night shoot in SF: SF Night Photography?

    This is gonna be cool!

Re: Thursday Night - San Francisco

    Hey John,

I think there should be a plan in case of fog. Twin Peaks gets nasty in the evening if there is fog. Soup City.

I hope that one of the locations is urban like North Beach or Filmore, etc. I have some emails to friends in the city of some cool places to photograph at night.

For dinner there is a place in South San Francisco on Grand Ave. which is close to the freeway with parking. Villa Del Sol. It's super cheap and meat.

    I'm interested...

A nice meeting place would be Stones Town Mall in San Francisco, by UCSF.

Meeting Place - South San Francisco

I think Loren's suggestion to meet in South San Francisco is the best. Parking won't be a problem and I'm gonna need to eat. So we'll meet at 8 PM at Villa Del Sol Argentinian restaurant. Here's a map and the address: http://yp.yahoo.com/py/ypMap.py?Pyt=...r:regT:1:fbT:0

If anyone has a problem with this, let us know. We can change the time, but I think this is probably as good a place as any to meet. I don't want to have to try to park in San Francisco, unless it's at one of our photo spots.

    Don't Know

Going to a parade in the Mission sort of changes the whole intent of this trip. For one, it's gonna be difficult to get in and out. Two, I was planning to do slow, landscape shots. Three, I'm not too psyched about packing my camera gear around the Mission at night.

    Hey John,

Since it gets dark earlier, is it possible to make dinner around 7 p.m.? I will probably only have time to make dinner and one of the spots.

    Should be fun!!

Sure. I was trying to avoid traffic into the City. But 7 is fine with me.

    Rain or Shine?

Do we want to go if it's raining or shall we postpone until next week? Rain could be good or it could be terrible.

Re: Thursday Night - San Francisco

I am new to photography, so I don't really know what extra equipment we need for the rain. I know John you mention that cameras are generally OK in the rain so I'll go if it doesn't rain too hard. I just bring a plastic bag to go around the camera or something.

    It's san francisco.

    It's november.

    It's now or never.

I'll be heading to the city regardless of whether or not we do this.

    I'll Be There

I'll be there! As long as it's not pouring it should be fine for photos. And if it's pouring, at least we can eat and maybe figure something else out. Plus, part of being a good photographer is being flexible and dealing with conditions. Sometimes things don't go as planned. It's important to figure out how to take good pictures no matter what happens. And that's what we'll do!
