    "Tagging" your photos?

    Hey,

So I got in to photography a few weeks ago with my new Canon XTi and lenses. And after posting alot of pics on my Flickr I notice my pictures on peoples myspaces and things. I love taking pictures of people doing cool things (mtbing, rowing, ect.) and making them happy giving them to them for free, but it bugs me that I'm not getting any credit for these even though its under my copy right rules, I ask them, ect. So down to the point...I see people with pictures and their names in the corner of photos...is there any way to do that to 100's of pictures without setting it up for each one individually? Like a program I can drag and drop them in that will automatically do it?

    Thanks.

And sorry if I posted this in the wrong place...

Check the Business Forum, we have lots of info there on this subject.

The way I deal with it is to email the people, if they don't do what I ask (in my case it's pay or else) I notify their ISP and the site is removed because 99% of the ISP's have rules against copyright infringement. I then bill the offender by the month with interest.

well I offer all my pics at nearly full size for free. Why is it I would get to charge them? And could you send a link for an example? I'm not quite sure what to look for.

Muddy don't let your self get taken advantage of. CYA on the stuff you post on flicker and elsewhere. I have had a long term friendship end over photo credits. Too long of a story for here.

I know I'm not being too productive, But I size all my pics down already, it wouldn't take much for me to put on watermarks.

    Thats just my take.

Look through the Photography and business forum: http://forums.photographyreview.com/...splay.php?f=49

There are lots of threads here from theft of photos to copyright and so on. It's not that you could or would charge them, but I do, I don't give any photos away as it's my business. Those of us in the business don't really like it when people give photos away or sell them cheap as it hurts our business. That too is explained in the business forum. Plus, how do you expect to buy new gear giving stuff away? Just some things to think about.

What I'd like to know is just how you came across your pictures on myspace. Are these people you know that have access to your flickr page and are using your photos, or did you just randomly come across them as you were browsing myspace?

    Re: "Tagging" your photos?

Check out this thread. I have writen up a very easy to follow tutorial about adding a watermark, or copy right symbol to your photos using Photoshop. You can set this up as an action, then run it as a batch on entire folders of files. You may want to skip the "flatten image" part of the tutorial tho, as Steve explains in this thread also.

Well their friends that I go out and take pictures of and I put them online, share the photos with them, ect. But I tell them I want photo cred and I'm not getting it. I also take photos of people on my crew team *I bring my camera to races, some practices, ect.* and put pics up and tell the 50+ people about the website, but no one gives photo cred....so I'm resulting to "watermarks" i guess its called.

And I understand the whole charge money thing, but at this point in the game my photos arnt good enough to charge really...I'm still learning composition and what not, I basically take the pictures to learn and satisfy others.

I definatly need a flash and tele photo lens though...:-D

    Thanks for the help guys.
