What to do when you get laid off.

Well after being on lay off for a few weeks I decided to go back to school. For two weeks I'll be learning arson investigation and a few weeks after that I will be studying to become a certified fire safety inspector. Then at the end of March I'll be at Norfolk Ari Base for a class on Aircraft Firefighting and Rescue.

Next week is hands on training at the academy, I will take plenty of pictures.

    It's hard being laid off!

I hope your training gets you back in the work world, soon, Tyson.

When you are at the bottom there is only one way to go...I don't want to go back to the factory. I still have my part time job at the fire house. It is holding me together.

Arson Investigator..... Very Nice.... My brother is an investigator and he is certified for almost everything for fire investigation and explosives. He could make a great living with the insurance companies if he wasn't a cop...... Conflict of interest or something... No second jobs allowed..

    Good Luck....

Sorry about the job loss. We lived that nightmare right as the economy started to tank.

I agree with PJ. You can't be about safety if you don't wear a helmet. ;) My brother almost killed himself on his motorcycle because he wasn't wearing a helmet. Scary stuff.

I agree I should have had a helmet. I always use one on my street bike. When gas prices hit an all time high, I traded a laptop for a little motorcycle 50mpg compared to the 16mpg my truck gets. I saved a ton in gas and had fun doing it.

Tyson, good to hear you're being pro-active and going back to school. What direction are you hoping to take you career in? Are you hoping to be an investigator or are you planning on going to the insurance side of it? Either way, congrats and I hope it all works out for you

Hang in there Tyson. Sounds like you're trying to make lemonade out of lemons by going back to school. It's never a waste to invest in yourself by going back to school.

With all that safety training you forgot your helmet and your coat LOL. Congrats on your new adventures! I usually dont know what I need but I know what I want. Thankfully the powers that be take charge and I find out its what I wanted all along! Enjoy! (and wear a hemet )

If the economy stays like this there may be a lot of arson to investigate. Hang in there Tyson hope you can make lemonade form those sour lemons you have been dealt.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Good move, Tyson.
Sorry to hear about the job, but I reckon you're making a good move getting the training.
Your fire house experience sounds like it's making a good jumping off point.
    Good luck !

Well guys I am going to get all my ducks in a row so I can get a job at port Columbus (air port). Very little action (thank god) but a steady income with benefits. I will post some pictures from the academy soon.
