The St. Louis Arch
Easily one of the coolest structures I've ever seen.

Nice capture Seb, I hope I get a chance to shoot it again in Sept. when I am back there.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Very nice Seb. Now face up, a picture of opportunity or a meticulously planned shot? Also interested in the focal length of the lens.

I agree.

There is really nothing to critique here, that is a nicely conceived and executed photograph. I am sure it would sell.......heck, I'd almost buy one.
I'm also thinking that this gives me a great idea for shooting the Air Force memorial, thanks.

And because of that, a lot of pictures have been taken of it over the years. And because of that fact it's hard to see something different - but you've done it! Great shot.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Looking good, Seb. Not typical . . . .

Re: The St. Louis Arch
So did you take the ride up?

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Thanks everyone.
OT, you should know better than to think I plan anything, let alone meticulously. :) 17mm at f/8
Brian, absolutely not.

Seb,
This is a spectacular photo. I love the way it interacts with the sky and cloud formation complements it brilliantly.
What is it made of?

Awesome! What else can I say? Just look at that sky with the sun passing by at just the right moment. You got a winner there, Seb!

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Seb, are you afraid of heights? You would like the Space Needle:D

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Roger,
It's made of steel panels.
Liz,
Thank you! :)
Jimmy,
Not afraid of them, they just make me fall over and vomit uncontrollably.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Very cool shot Sebastian - as usual. Always nice to see a post from you cause I know its going to be something different. As said above - nothing to say about it except how good it is.
The ride up is pretty cool. You get into these little pods that are on mercury switches. So as it goes up the pods are constantly adjusting to stay level. I think I have been up there 5 times now.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Thanks Ben!
I was told that the thing tends to sway with wind, and that weekend was VERY windy. That coupled with my fear of heights and some sort of a stomach bug would have ended very, very badly.
Roger,
I actually am not sure if the panels are steel. They're definitely metal though.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
its def a very neat monument, i hope to get back to some time... i went up when i was little, and have driven past a few times since then.
great angle on the arch, i like how the one flat side leads your eye to the top, then it twists and leaves you there.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Thanks Dylan, I get a kick out of the twist as well. :)

Re: The St. Louis Arch
Your work is awesome. I can't think of a better word. Even if you are tired of hearing it.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
So I guess a trip to the observation deck on the space needle is out, you may have to buy someone a new hat. Sorry couldn't resist, it's a line from a movie.

Re: The St. Louis Arch
I'm OK as long as I'm not too close to the window. But if it's swaying in the wind, all bets are off. II'd owe a lot of poeple a lot of hats. And shirts.
