The Spring 24 hours Tomorrow! Saturday, April 14!
Yes, amazingly another 3 months have past and here we are at another 24 Hours photo project! This time it will be held on Saturday, April 14. If you're not familiar with the 24 Hours projects, it's an optional community photography project in which we all go out and shoot our worlds on the same day and post the photos in a collective thread. The results thus far have always been diverse and fun! To take a look at our last 24 Hours, this past winter, look here. The other projects can be found linked to in the Welcome thread, at the top of the Viewfinder or in my signature.

We have talked in the past about doing a more "photojournalistic" approach to this project rather than the "day in the life of" approach that we have typically done. Any interest in that?

2 weeks and counting! Don't miss it! :)

Hey Rick,

Would you mind elaborating on the idea of taking a more "photojournalistic" approach? I'm not sure I understand how that's different than a "day in the life."

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul

Doing it photojournalistically (is that a word) would mean going out and documenting what we find in our day as if we were writing for a newspaper or going to get it published in a book. Each photo would take on more importance as there would (probably) be fewer shots but each would say more. A day in the life of is more like, here's my dog, here's my couch, here's my job, etc.

Example: a photojournalistic approach would be to take a picture of a young girl dancing at a carnival and adding the caption "8 year old Adina St John of Milwaukee, WI spins her way around the dance floor at the Wisconsin county fair." A "dayinthelifeof" approach would be to take a snapshot of the county fair with the caption "then I went to the fair." Doing it photojournalistically (there's that word again) would require us to work a lot harder. That's why I'm making sure people actually want to do it :D

I'm definately up for the Saturday instead of weekday.

The photojournal approach will produce fewer yet more interesting shots. I'm not sure how well I'd do with that approach, but I'm game if everyone else is.

Thanks for the explanation, Rick. I think I've done kind of a mixture in the past...or at least attempted to. I'm all for it. It doesn't have to be a requirement. Maybe just make it a suggestion and we can all do our best and post whatever comes from it.

Not sure if I'm going to have much to contribute to this one, as I will be a plane for most of the day.

It's coming up this weekend! I like Paul's idea of suggesting it have a photojournalistic theme and then letting people decide for themselves. I know for me, unless I have to, I probably won't :)

And Roger, take your camera to work if you go. Shooting our jobs makes it that much more fun.

Even though I'm getting over a cold, I'll still try and get out there....
