Some Sunset Shots
Sunset shots are a dime a dozen. Everyone takes them, and has a bunch of them.
Last Thursday on my way home I stopped and took these. They must be halfway decent, because Dawn wants to print them and hang them in the house. It's a local thing....

Re: Some Sunset Shots
Right on Speed. Everyone's got sunset photos, but having ones that stand out is quite a bit more difficult. You nailed it with these though. The purposeful, hard working shrimp boats are a great contrast against the beautiful nature of the sunset.

Re: Some Sunset Shots
Beautiful shots. Now I'm in mental turmoil because I can't decide which one I like better. I love the dark moodiness of the first, but I also love the play of lighting between the sky and the reflection from the water of the second. Mmmmm. Dangit Speed!

Thanks Brad!
I'm glad you like them and think that I captured something worthwhile.

That's why I posted both of them. They are nearly identical, but there is enough difference to be noticeable.
I guess this means you aren't going to tell me which one to have printed for my living room! ;-)
Thanks for the comments my friend!

Re: Some Sunset Shots
Both are very nice but my nod goes to the first shot. Love the mood it sets. I agree that this shot should find a place on the wall in your home.

Thanks for your input Larry. I will be sure to pass it along to Dawn.
And thanks for the kind words my friend.

Re: Some Sunset Shots
Glad you have room to hang both, because I couldn't pick between them.

Ya got that right! My suggestion would be to print them both! Or let Dawn choose.:D

Re: Some Sunset Shots
Speed, if they were mine, I would definitely print and hang the second one. The reflection off the water pulls it all together. Great images!!
Cheers,

Print them both. We will probably end up doing that.
Thanks for the non-decision buddy! ;-)

Thanks Paul. That is actually valuable input, and I think it's the route we are going to end up taking.

Thanks WG.
So far I have one vote for the first shot, one vote for the second shot, and two say print both.
I love my PR friends!
While similar, I posted both shots because they are different enough to be distinct from each other. The first shot is a little darker, has more contrast. The second shot is brighter and has the reflections. It's amazing what moving just a few feet to the left will do for an image.

Re: Some Sunset Shots
The second shot has the bird which made it for me.

Yes it does!
And I like how I caught it between the out riggers.

Re: Some Sunset Shots
i like the second one much better. better sky, better water, more detail in the boats, the bird, less messy rigging....

Good reasons all.
Though, "less messy rigging" was my favorite!

Re: Some Sunset Shots

Re: Some Sunset Shots
Both are beautiful, I like the light and the bird in the second but the first with both boats and rigging against the darker background has a totally different mood to it. I can't choose... :)

Thanks for the comments Peter. It looks like the second one is definitely the more popular shot.

Re: Some Sunset Shots
Number 2. The greater detail of the boats give it far more creative element. When people look at it they will look at all of the photo.
Well done...

Re: Some Sunset Shots
An interesting forground subject really makes a sunset shot really stand out from the crowd... You nailed it on this one. Coincidentally, I'm in the same "boat" (haha, ha, huh) right now... We just moved and want to shoot something to hang on the walls of the new place... the pressure is on.

Another vote for the second one -- but the first is beautiful as well.

Thanks for the comments BM.
And good luck finding that special something to hang on your walls. I know you can find it!

Thank you Shebang! It looks like the second one is definitely the preferred photo among my friends on PR. I appreciate your input!

Fyi
We went with the second one. I ordered a 16X20 earlier this week. It came yesterday, and we went to Michaels and got a frame for it. It now resides on the living room wall. When you walk in our front door, it is right in front of you.
Thanks to everyone for their input!
