Re: Some recent stuff...
Not that it means anything coming from me, but I must say that I am impressed. I can say that based on these two wonderful slide shows, I would hire you. You really captured some moments and the slide shows, Wow...

brown
what can Brown do for you?
I was just in my nephews wedding & wore a brown tux.
I kept thinking, "Brown?...how are these pics going to turn out?" :skep:
Love the dancing pics

Excellent work, Seb. I have just begun doing events and had my first wedding and can certainly appreciate the great moments, both candid and posed that you brought back
Wonderful slideshow too.

Re: Some recent stuff...
Outstanding Seb!!!! I quit doing wedding 25 years ago. If I had had your talent I would still be doing them.

Re: Some recent stuff...
Amazed and impressed here too. I don't know how you seem to have managed to be at the right place at the right time so often and to be ready for the shot to boot.

Re: Some recent stuff...
Amazing work Seb!! Personal Favourite - Jenny and Tony, lots of energy in those shots.
Mind you, with that song you used, all I could think about was Top Gun :p

Don't put yourself down, your words mean as much as anyone else's, which is a lot. Thank you for the compliments.

Thanks, Hollis.
The brown tuxes worried me at first, but we just shot them normally and it worked out.

You're doing weddings?! Post as soon as you can, I can't wait to see how you approach them.
Thanks for the kind words. The software for the slideshows is Showit Web. It doesn't look like much, but it'll do the Kessel run...wait, no, that's too geeky. It's a very nice app, check out the demo.

Wow, thanks OT. :) It really is the combination of me and Craig though, our styles compliment each other very well.

Thanks Frog! After a while you start picking up on cues when something's about to happen. You know when kids are going to goof around or when a mother's about to cry, but for all the other unexpected moments you just really need to have the camera glued to your face and have the other eye open for what's happening somewhere else. It's that much better when you have two photographers. At the end of Jenny and Tony's wedding we had just shy of 8000 images between the two of us. We covered a lot of ground.

Axle and Lori,
I'm choosing to respond to you together because you both brought up the music. First, choosing music is really hard for me, as it's such a personal thing. Craig chose the music for Gina and Jeff and I felt the song worked really, really well. Turns out the couple loved it as well and ended up buying the song on iTunes after they heard it in the slideshow. As for Jenny and Tony, the song seems counterintuitive but it's the one they chose to have their first dance to. Kind of hard to argue with that. :)

Yes, as with most of my other work I try to avoid have any people in my wedding shots :D
Actually, I have only worked a few events and the wedding was as a second photog.
This was awkward not only because it's a whole new genre for me, but because she ( booked photog) wanted me shooting jpegs and took all the files as they were. i'm used to refining my work later, so this had me cringing. she is a bit old school but is really excited about us working together. I did not like it at first, but I think it can be challenging and rewarding. . .and lucrative. I'll see where this goes . . .
I did an anniversary event on my own and created a cool slideshow for the client in Lightroom.
Thanks for the info and link to the software. After having tried a few of this type work myself and realize how tough it can be I'm truly impressed wih your results. . .as I usually am.

Re: Some recent stuff...
That's odd that she wanted JPGs... The leeway afforded by a RAW file is something I can't really live without anymore.
I hated doing weddings at first, but that was because I was trying to do what everyone else was doing. Once I started simply shooting them the way I prefer I really started to like them.
Thanks again for the kind words. :)

Re: Some recent stuff...
Wow, I bet the couples were thrilled. Amazing. I like how you follwed the brides through the getting ready process. Very unique.

I agree, I cannot see missing the advantages that RAW gives us to get the most out of a shot. Besides being able to save a great moment that may have suffered from poor exposure, etc.
I am convincing her to get into a RAW workflow.
I will post a few from my events in a new thread, but I will let a little time go by as I do not want to follow your act too closely :) A tough act to follow . . .
btw, I checked out the link to the slideshow. Lightroom has some nice slideshows and features as well. Is there any big advantage in the "ShowIt" slideshow over one from LightRoom? I know your using aperture, but I think I recall you mentioning that you had tried LightRoom at some point.

Oh please... Just post them!
As for the slideshows, the ones made by Lightroom can only be exported as PDF as far as I know. Is that correct? Other than exporting an animated Flash show with music, Showit also allows your viewers to order the show on DVD, though as far as I know you don't get a cut of that. Though honestly I don't think I'd mind, as I don't exactly think of burning and labeling DVDs as being very fun...

Yes, only exports as a PDF (I'm wondering if that will change in version 2.0) So the Showit show exports as a Flash animation that can be seen as a slideshow gallery so to speak on a website, as you have done . . Thats a whole lotta reason to go with it. . .
