    Some pics from the Mountains

I posted these in the Pentax forum, but I wanted to share them here as well. Taken with the Sigma 10-20mm.

The second shot is stunning. I really like all the texture and the colors of it. Very well done.

    Yeah, neat.
But why is there a light blue band along the skyline ?
I've never seen sky like that !

And the lens flare in the first shot, I'd send back a lens that did that !
Oh, yeah, actually I did with the Sigma 80-400 DG replaced it with a Canon 100-400 L IS
Maybe I missed a trick there, using the flare creatively instead of regarding it as an issue to be fixed.

I agree, the flare is very bad. That's part of the reason I picked that shot. Under normal circumstances, I would have been sure to block the sun before shooting.

WA lenses are tough when it comes to flare, especially with a light source where the sun is positioned.

Beautiful shots-would you care to mention which mountains ?

I agree. I do not like excessive haloing. I go to great lengths to avoid that with my photos. The location is great, though. Where did you shoot these? And more importantly, when are we going to have a little Salt Lake City get-together? We should go for a photo hike together! I will be out of town the next two weekends. But I would like to get out and shoot with you, if you're interested. Maybe we can even get mtbbrian and his Holgas to come hike with us!

The halos are a result of the light smoothing in Photomatix. I'm going to revisit the picture this weekend to see if I can get rid of them.

These photos were taken in the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming.

Saturdays are usually great for me. Let's have a photo get together! Send me a PM, and we'll go from there.

Gorgeous location. I think with all the avail light the second shot would be better, could be a 1 shot deal. I'm not a big fan of HDR ...I admit.

I'm using the siggy 10-20 as well, haven't had that type of flare.I keep a Hoya Pro UV filter on the front as well.
