    Some more scans - Yosemite

Back to scanning old stuff again this week ;)

These are a collection from myriad trips to Yosemite, CA. The newest are probably 3 years old.

This is a deer that happened along as I walking through the valley. I got down in the grass and fired off a few shots as he passed between me and Half Dome.

Here's the famous small church in Yosemite Valley, home of many weddings!

A controlled burn in the valley.

This is a weird one of Yosemite Valley at night. I was closing the shutter as planes flew through the scene not realizing it would break up the star trails. You can see the campfires from rock climbers half way up El Capitan on the left. And Bridalveil falls flows on the right.

    Hi Rick,

Nice shots. I like the controlled burn the best, but the star trails are pretty cool too. In the star trails shot, there's one red line that appears almost perpindicular to the rest of the star trails, just above the mountains and left of center. What the heck is that?

A plane I was trying to avoid plane trails through the sky but a couple of them crept into the bottom of the frame. Good eye

Thanks for the compliment Paul. Glad you liked!

    Rick,

Any idea how long the exposure was on this one? I figured it was probably a plane, but I would have expected a longer trail...guess it could have come over the mountain at the end of the exposure.

Oh, and another thing I liked is how some of the star trails are blue.

Winners all Rick. The new scanner has opened up a whole new world for us. It's really nice to go back and discover some of your images that have been stored away for a while.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Hey Paul

I think this was about 5 minutes. But I kept opening and closing the shutter trying to avoid plane trails so it's hard to say how long the light actually collected for.

Yes, it is very cool that there are so many different colored stars in the night sky Take a look through my gallery for a bunch more star tail pics with a wider variety of colors in them

    Thanks again!

Thanks Larry. I always appreciate your kind comments.

Yes, this scanner has been a godsend. Er, Santasend to be exact ;) I have finally seen shots on the computer that I never had scanned before. Going through my collection has also been like a walk down memory lane in many respects.

I'm glad you enjoyed looking. I'm sure I'll have many more posts before I get through the last of my catelogues

    Thanks again!

Now that's a DEER! Wow! Great catch buddy!

I also love the last shot. So much going on in that shot. Do you by any chance remember the lens you used for that one?

Thanks buddy! I usually take night shots with my Sigma 24mm but this may have been the 50mm Nikkor. It's been a few years
