    2 members in one magazine.

My friend got his copy of Dirt Rag, a mountain biking magazine today. One of my photos is on the Cover, and another one inside, with a small story about me and my friends. I was already pumped about this, then I flipped a few pages and saw one of my favorite photos by mtbbrian! Good job!

here is a pic of the magazine.

    And the picture itself.

    That's Great!

    Congratulations!

Did you get paid? Don't give cover shots away for free. It devalues your work.

What's up with Dirt Rag using photos for covers all of a sudden? They used to only use paintings and illustrations.

Yeah checks on the way, I am getting paid pretty well. I am not sure whats with the photo cover though, Jeff just told me he was running it as cover and I was very surprised. I think it is so cool that a month ago I was out shooting these shots, now they are in my hands on a publication printed all over the country. I love submitting stuff, I'm thinking that shadow shot is going to have to be sent in somewhere too.

Also, I know you have been in magazines. Is it bad that most of the pictures I take are shared on the internet before they get submitted? The shot that is inside dirt rag has never been shown to anyone but my friends, but the cover was in multiple posts.

You may think about blurring your friends address off of the internet before you post

Congratulations! That must be exciting to be on the front cover. My one and only published work was in Ranger Rick magazine last September, and it was a blast to see my photo in there, so I can imagine how you feel getting the cover shot! Good work!

I'm honestly not sure. So far I've found that the magazines I've been dealing with don't seem to care if they've been on the Internet. And some actually come to me about photos they first saw on Mtbr.com. Sometimes, when I get something really cool, I hold out in order to make a better impact ad because I think it will sell better if no one has seen it. But it's hard not to post them to get some feedback and immediate gratification. If they're important, I'll only post them on the photo site. That way tons of mountain bikers haven't already seen them.

Ok. If I am sending anything in I will still post it, but just not spread it around.

Congrats...it's always a great feeling to see your name attached to an image that is published. Good work!
