    Muscle Car

    Hey all,

Now that Ruffus is about to come visit me I'm starting to get excited about photography again. A co-worker's husband just finished building a 1970 Chevelle and asked me to shoot some photos, with the hope that one will stand out enough to be printed/mounted to put on display when he attends carshows.

These are two of the best. I shot a lot and only got a few that were worth keeping and even fewer that were good. It's amazing how quickly photography skill deteriorate if you don't use them regularly.

The second shot, IMO, is a bit cleaner than the first. But either way, what a gorgeous car! And you did well photographing it.

I truly regret turning down my brother back in 1985 to buy his Mach I. He only wanted $2000, and I opted rather for a '74 Mercury Capri, for which I paid $1800. What was I thinking?

My Dad had a 69 Mach I and was going to give it to me when I turned 16 and my Mom made him sell it. "He'll get killed in that, that thing". It would be worth a chunk of money now. But it's what I learned to drive a stick with.

    Thanks Greg,

I still love those old muscle cars too. My second car was a '69 Chevelle SS. {sigh} Now I drive a Toyota pickup...I'm still young....at heart.

    Thanks Ray,

After looking through my shots, I realized I should probably invest in a CP filter for this lens. I would have liked to try shooting the car with and without the filter.

I'll pass the compliment on to the owners. They're obviously proud of it. If I remember correctly, he's owned it for 18 years and finally could afford to build it the way he wanted.

I was just thinking last night that I need to get some new stuff of Gus. Haven't taken many lately.

Yep, cool shots. Funny, I've been a Ford man most of my life, but my all-time favorite muscle cars are the Nova and Chevelle SS!

I think it's because they're basically such "normal" looking family cars unitl you trick them out. Then they become (as we used to say)...WICKED!

Nice car!!! Just got to love the muscle cars. We just finished our big car show in town and I never made it over there. I love the pictures, #2 is my favorite. I think because it is more eye level. So, where are the pictures of Colette and Gus????

Great shots Troy - the first overhead view appeals to me !
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, while they both show the stance and beauty of the car, the first pic does it for me.

    Thanks for the comments Toot.

Aiieeeee. I've tried to get shots of Collette and Gus. I get the evil eye from one (she hates having her photo taken) and I'm having a difficult time getting Gus to sit still long enough for my camera to focus on him. Anyone got any ideas about how to slow down a 2 1/2 year old? Without using narcotics?

Actually I got a few decent head shots of him that I'll be posting soon...in the 50mm war thread.

Thanks Rivman. I tried a variety of angles, not really knowing what he wanted. Here's one that he likes, even though it's got some issues that make it hard for me to look at. He wants me to add some text at the bottom (thanking friends, family and the shops/people that worked on it) and print this one poster sized, 20x24, and mount it on foamboard.

Like I said Troy - the eye of the beholder.
Just as long as the car owner is satisfied with the results!
