    So excited!

I am so excited! I went to a used bookstore(my favorite kind) and found two pretty cool books on photography. Most of their selection were from the 70's, and I was afraid they'd be horribly out of date. But I found some recent ones: a Complete Idiots Guide to Taking Pictures Like A Pro, or something to that effect. I am a complete idiot when it comes to the workings of lenses and filters and shutter speeds and the technical stuff like that. This book covers that and the more artistic aspects too. I also got what looks like an Intro to Photography college course text book that was published in '96. I realize a lot has changed since then, but it still has good info, and gives me projects to work on. All this for only 20 bucks! I really want to learn the basics of photography, but with a toddler and a baby at home, I don't have time or money right now to go out and take a class. Hopefully these books will give me a better understanding of things and I'll be able to take better pictures. And if I really start enjoying myself, maybe I can talk my husband into letting me buy a DSLR!! That would be my dream...

Okay, I need to stop now before I let any more of my complete dorkiness show through... :P

Good for you. That's one of the smartest things a beginner can do. You can learn a lot from books. Amanda, do you realize you could have gone into the Free Camera Classified section of this forum and found quite a few older books for just a few bucks a piece?
