    Bars of Budapest

Bars in Europe are often called "Cafes". All these images were shot using the Olympus OMD and the 12-60mm lens.

The last image is an example of so called "The Ruin Bars of Budapest". These bars are built in Budapest’s old District VII neighborhood that was left to decay after World War II in the ruins of abandoned buildings, factories, stores, or lots. Each of these ruin bars has its own personality, but they all follow a few basic principles: find an old abandoned place, rent it out (maybe?), set up a bar, fill it with flea market furniture, have a few artists come in to leave their mark on the walls and ceiling, add in some weird antiques, serve alcohol, and watch people flock in.

    Re: Bars of Budapest

I've just got back after my Hungarian language evening class. I first went to Budapest 18 months ago and I thought it was great (Paris the way it should be but isn't...) I wanted to go back regularly - as long as I could talk to the people.

It looks like I missed a few places. None of these are familiar to me. Have to look them up when I go back in the Spring.

Wow! These are GREAT! I am not a bar-hopping person, but I would love to visit these places! Each one is unique - you did a great job with the composition.

Thanks for sharing these. I really enjoyed viewing them.....more than once!
