and not the astronomical kind either. Shot this on my lunchbreak in Simi Valley at a park. Had to climb up about 75 feet to the top of the rocks where they were growing just to get this shot. I wish I would have had some sort of diffuser...I think the backlighting would have come out better.

A little hard on yourself there Ray, still a great photograph without the diffuser.. I'd be proud to have this in my collection. Great shot. The background is nicely blurred (bokeh baby), and the lucency of the petals is great. Maybe a tad underexposed, but that may be my laptop-it has a tendency to be dark.

Well thank you, Lionheart. But one can never be too hard on himself because there's always room for improvement. As you said, it is a tad underexposed, but I was afraid that if I upped the exposure compensation I'd blow out the petals. What was interesting to me was that these flowers did not grown down below, but only upon the tops of the rocks. I guess they got more sunlight there.

lol, down here in so. California, we've got lots of blooming flowers. The hills are green with grass again and it almost feels like springtime, except the mornings are a bit chillier.

    Thanks for the comments!
