Sebastian, how do you fit all that hair into a hat? Is it a magic hat?

Re: Self portraits...that time of year
It IS a magic hat! But the magic has nothing to do with hair. I have very little of that. It's a different kind of magic.

    Great portrait Mrs. Adina.

okay nothing serious from me, I've turned ugly since turning forty. I'll only hide behind photoshop filters until I turn cute again.

I leave the 300mm prime nearly permanently afixed to my camera so this is all I could come up with - requiring the use of the 10 second timer.

Now the great distance actually covered isn't adequately portrayed here - due to the telephoto compression, the 1.6x crop factor,...

Or it could have been my Nike Earths, the heavy lunch meeting 30 minutes prior, and/or my big butt.

You may remember seeing the first picture from my blog, of me doing a self portrait while I was hanging my photographs for the recent group exhibit I was a part of.

I got my film from that roll back the other day so here is the resulting self portrait.

As a general rule, I don't do self portraits. But, occasionally I have to finish a roll of film and something like this happens.

The tilt of the camera makes it art. :D

You think your kung fu is good? Window light self-portrait! Take that!

Taken with the new Canon PowerShot SD950 IS. I haven't had a chance to compare yet. But I am suspicious that this camera is a little noisier than the SD850 IS. It's sort of to be expected as they crammed 12 million pixels onto the same area as the previous camera's 8-megapixel sensor.

This one was shortly after I'd read about the zone system in Ansel's books. And also the discovery of the usefulness of spot metering.

So here's a couple, first a picture of my niece and myself. Can't really see much of me, but at least I'm working up the nerve..

That's a nice composition and it is a really nice exposure. Great, smooth range and a nice, creamy tonal quality.

You're going to Westminster right? I'm in CA for the rest of the week. But maybe next week you, me, and Brian can get together for some dinner or something? I think we've put it off long enough.
