Ok so I gave it a shot :p The baby WAS sleeping. Taking self portraits while holding a 20lb 5 month old is not easy!!

I was making dinner.. and noticed my reflection... and someone told me recently that motherhood looks good on me..

And one where you can actually see me lol

I'll play, I'm doing one a month for my mom.

She gave me the hat, I had been looking for one like that for a while...

People give me looks of jealousy everywhere I go.

    Awesomeness!

my daughter got a similar hat at a white elephant exchange this holiday season, except it's brown with furry flaps.

Surprisingly difficult to get a sharp shot with a 70-200 handheld, indoors, through a mirror, when you're not looking through the view finder! It was a moment of boredom while I was trying to get the cat to come up with the goods for my 52 project last week :mad2:

I tried to get a "self portrait" of my daughter and I. After many failed attempts, I tried to capture us through the mirror of a toy. It's more of a "fun house" type mirror..ha! This was attempt #1....

I thought the camera was feeling a bit heavier than usual...then realized she was tugging on the strap.

I took this just for fun...

This is me at the shoot last Sunday. I'm the one on the right holding the D200 with the 18-200. The person in the middle is Marlene, who was a fabulous model.

Great shots I went to a presentation by Pascale Baetens here in Belgium just last week with my camera club very informative. By the way the back of the head works just as well here. Cheers S.

You moms taking selfers with the little ones in tow brought a real smile to my lips and warmth to my heart. Thanks for sharing those with us. Makes me miss my grandkids and their moms and dads even more than I do everyday anyway.

Hi guys, here's my contribution. Sorry it's not a new one, it was taken about a year ago but I have the excuse that my camera is broken.
How about my hat then ??

Hey, Martin - love the hat! I can see myself fishing with that hat. But not very camouflaged for N&W shooting, eh? :p

Mr Yuck, your Volvo looks in very good nick, she looks almost new ... I've a 245GL wagon and she looks like she has been around the planet and back, at least twice ... doing the entire journey only on dirt.

How do you keep your beast looking so smart? ... your self portrait says more about you than you may think. It does to me.

Glad you like it Loupey, that's my "out for a stroll" hat. Last time I was in the US I stocked up on a complete new set of tropical camouflage and now I'm nigh on invisible when I am in thick jungle. A few weeks back I was in some bushes, beside a river, watching a tree on the opposite bank when a couple of fishermen walked past about 4 foot away. They were completely oblivious to me until I turned around to say hello. The one nearest to me screamed and fell over and the other ran away, I had to laugh.

Oops. Didn't show up on my monitor at home. That is a little daring. I'll ask PJ to delete that one and I'll make a calmer version

Or it could be called, Speed, a triple threat.

No, I don't play hockey, and no, I don't sing, dance and act.

But I did take some photos that meet the criteria for three different threads.

    These are self portraits.

    These are window light portraits.

And, these were taken with my 50mm.

D300, 50mm f1.4, ISO 200, f 5.6. Taken in my office, by a east facing window in the afternoon, handheld at arms length.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to post this in other threads. ;-)

In the spring, summer, and fall, I wash the car about bi-weekly and wax it about every other wash. About twice a year I apply RainX to ALL windows. The taillights were faded so I replaced them with a $100 set from eBay. I bought the car used a couple of years ago in Oakland CA and it looked good then.

I'll let PJ chime in but generally I believe he is okay with nudity on the forums as long as it is clearly marked. I can delete it for you if you want if he doesn't come around soon.

And while both of these are great shots, technically neither are self-portraits so you remain challenged to create a real selfer

Yeah... I had a bit of a problem with that too. It wasn't clearly marked. This thread is supposed to be self portraits and the eye is drawn to the only lighted subject in those photos, not the shadows on the sides.

    Got my act together..
    Well this has been interesting..

My choice is to ask for the photo of Marlene to be replaced by the one on this post, which is how I intended the picture to come out, and how it looked on my screen and print last night. The whole movement of the picture is upwards towards her face, which is what the subject is supposed to be. Any other detail is just distraction. I was dismayed this morning when I checked out the post on the portable at work. Not at all what I was intending.

OK so this is supposed to be a self-portrait thread. How about this one which I did a couple of months ago? I've managed to place most of the others I did at the same time in different forums but this one defeats me.
