    Saturday's Portraits...(hot girl pics included)
The first group is of Gretta F. - the brunette bridesmaid from the wedding I shot last weekend. She's a sweet and beautiful young lady who graced my home studio for about 4 hours Saturday night.

The second group is of my brother-in-law and his fiance.

LA? I don't know about that. I've never been a "California" kinda guy - maybe New York. hehehe - Thanks for the compliments, Penny. I'm working at putting together a good book - these are definitely going in there.

Call me a dork, but I actually made my wife come in here and look at what you'd written in your reply, Hodgy. Thank you. I'm rather fond of #3 - reminds me of an old Cindy Crawford pic I've seen somewhere - though it does look better in B&W.

BTW, when Gretta was reading the release, her eyes got real big (since I barely know her and she's never modeled before) - Thank God she signed it.

Thanks, Ray - I love the shots outside. I was shooting with my 100-300 USM at about 185. It was about 7pm at the pond across the street from my house. I just love what that lens does outside. Nice crisp subject, great blurred background. If Gretta hadn't appeared to be going blind, I would've shot her outside until the sun went down. As it happened, I only got about 15 minutes outside with her.

Nat - did I say the Penelope Cruz thing here already? - It's funny. When I was showing the wedding pics, half my friends said she looked like Penelope Cruz. I told her about it at the shoot, and she was like, "I've heard that before - but I don't see it." Maybe she will now. Thanks for the compliments, Nat.

Brian, thanks a bunch. I try really hard to make my subjects comfortable during a shoot. I hate it when someone looks strained or uncomfortable in pictures. It took Gretta about 45 minutes to really calm down and relax. Of course, maybe it was the fact that after she put on the mid-riff shirt and I was shooting pictures, I kept going, "Nice, nice, nice - beautiful, beautiful - stay right there - don't move - perfect." - She's actually a very shy girl - compliments went a long way to bring her out of her shell.

I do like these photo's. Being the insensitive male pig I am, I can't help but to notice what a freakin' body on that girl. Man o' man.

Since everyone is being non-critical, I will be the critical one. This image:

This look is familiar to me. Either she has some gastro-intestinal issues or this is the same look I used to get when hitting on the hotties at the clubs back in the day!

Too funny, Todd - It took me 30 minutes to help her understand me when I said, "Have you ever given anybody 'eyes' when you go out dancing?" - This is as close as we got. When she smiles her real smile, she has a real gummy-toothy look - when she keeps her mouth totally closed - she looks almost as if she's frowning. My wife and I worked with her for quite some time to get her to smile with her eyes and part her lips only slightly.

I think Gretta is a lovely lady, and you've got some very nice shots of her!

    Hot girl indeed.

Congratulations on a job well done.

She's 22 -- maybe she doesn't understand the look as much as those of us in our 30's :) I purchased "Lighting The Nude", an excellent book on photography lighting all around, and it addresses these "intimate" portraits and how to get someone in the mood, yet be professional. This is why I will never be able to do this. I'd just ask them to look at the camera like they want to "get some" :)

Hence, my reasoning for sticking with software engineering. I get rejected by the computer all the time, but I don't take it personally!

I just got finished sitting with Gretta here in the office and going through all of her photos. She was so embarassed to be looking at pictures of herself over and over again. At one point, she says, " That doesn't even look like me," and I was completely taken aback (because that's what I saw when I looked at her). I asked her what she meant, and she replied, "I look [shy embarassed pause] really hot."

Anyway - she loved her pics and said that she'd like to do it again some time now that she knows what she's doing and what to expect. I was all for it.

    Ahem!
Since we are all commenting on your 'hot girl' model more than your excellent photography... let me just say that your brother-in-law is hot Hot HOT too. The heck with the hot girl...! :)

Someone sent me a link and asked if something on the site was broken. And then I got curious :D

This is an example of why it's a good idea to use the image upload. Or you can use the gallery and then link to those...

Thanks for clarifying. I guess I should have checked the dates
