    San Francisco Gathering?
With all this gathering talk for NY... I thought I'd spark something up on the other coast.

Anyone up for a SF gathering?
Come on local-ites, let's be tourists in our own town!

    Some ideas:

    Golden Gate Park
    GG Bridge
    Ocean Beach
    Cliff House
    Sausalito
North Beach (including Coit Tower, Lombard St, Washington Park...)
    China Town
Some hidden hotspots in the Financial District

Multiple locations accessible by foot and public transport (trollies!)
If you're interested I was thinking April 30 or June 25

Post back and let me know

**which date works better for you (4/30 or 6/25)
**3-5 places in SF that are on your "must see list"

I'll handle itinerary and transportation info.

I'm definitely game for a local gathering. Another area that has a lot of character and great places to eat is the Mission district. Right off of the BART line, color, and a lot of character. Noe Valley and the Filmore district are also nice. North Beach come to mind as well.

Or we can go find celeberities in the Marina.

I'm thinking that April will be better since it's so cold in the summer time.

You're right up my alley on the Mission, Fillmore and Noe subject.
Favorite areas of mine- was hoping that someone would want to head out that way as well.
(They're off the typical touristy path and I love them!)

PS- seen lots of celebs in North Beach Bars ;)

    Re: San Francisco Gathering?
I have to start driving to Utah on May 1st. So April 30th is a little iffy for me. But I could probably at least say hi. June is too far ahead for me to start planning. But I like that we have a new Bay Area instigator. If someone gets the ball rolling, I'll do my best to be there.

You left out Angel Island, Alcatraz, and the ball park. We did Alcatraz a few years ago. But there are a lot of new people and I'd happily go again. And I'd love an excuse to take pictures at a baseball game.

    Thanks for doing this, Rebekah!

Wow, so you all really want to do the touristy stuff :) No problem here!

I can check out games and all for the Giants. I have yet to go to a game, and I havent been to Alcatraz since I was 13. (I will not tell you how long ago that was!)

We could do a game, or atleast hit up the ball park, cruise past SFMOMA and into North Beach, then Ferry out to Alcatraz.

One of my rendevous included a prelude in the Haight and GG Park, Walking the GG Bridge, then shuttling over to Sausalito to Lapperts, then Ferry-ing back to the Warf, snapping at some of the fish markets and such, and take the Embarcadero Street Car back to the Filbert Steps and walk up to Coit Tower, then back down into Washington Square... but we can save that for another time (read:more SF gatherings!)

It's my absolut ;) pleasure to be a San Frandisco instigator. You can never run out of things to do and see there.

So if we do the Mission District we HAVE to stop at Pollo Supremo for lunch. :)

Keep the ideas coming, and I will get together an itinerary, full of stops, and snaps.

Aw.... sniff. You're gathering without me...

One thing I have learned about photogatherings is less is more. Don't overplan or you'll have to start cutting things out mid-day. A general itenerary will work coupled with a healthy sense of spontaneity (let the adventures find YOU!)

Have fun you all and don't do anything I woudnt do!

Ohhhh - let's not start talking about what taqueria is best. I love Taqueria Acapulco, on 19th and Mission. And there's another one down near 24th that puts bacon on everything - Genius!

You know, I was going to push it out to July hoping Rick might be able to make it out from AZ... but the weather was so awesome a few weeks ago, I don't think I can wait any longer ;)
But! I would love any excuse to go to LA... haven't been in a long time. Maybe we should do an LA trip too ;)

I doubt I can be there for the gathering BUT I wanted to suggest a venue ---

    Tiburon

--- where I adored shooting when I was out there last August. I got some of the best pictures there, and a great series to stitch together for a panoramic.

Here's a reason to bring your camera to San Francisco. I go back to take pictures of the Cliff House and Sutro Baths at regular intervals. The Baths are one of my favorite places to take pictures - ever.

    UPDATE-San Francisco Gathering?- UPDATE
Ok, the date is set for April 30. ( I wanted to make it earlier to catch a game, but I will be in Santa Barbara the week before)

So far on my list I have

    North Beach
    Mission District (for lunch!)
    Golden Gate Park
    Ocean Beach/Sutro/Cliff House

In that order.... unless anyone has any other suggestions.
I was thinking we could start at Filbert Steps,
Walk up to Coit Tower and down into North Beach?
Anyone have any objections to 3 flights of stairs? ;)

From there we could hit Washington Square/Park and Lombard Street if you're up to it. They say the views are better walking up.

From there- Muni it to Mission for lunch (John- I think you should pick our lunchin' spot!)

Then on to Golden Gate Park- and then to Ocean Beach/Sutro/Cliff House
    to end the day?

    Input appreciated :)

4/23 is photo day at SBC Park. Line up behind SBC Park along the Waterfront at 8:30 AM with Camera and Game Ticket. Photographers with game tickets will be allowed on the field pregame to photograph players. However, it might rain that day.

Golden Gate Park would not be complete without a visit to the Strybing Arboretum (SF Botanical Gardens) and the Conservatory of Flowers and possible the Japanese Tea Garden. Strybing opens at 10 AM.

I guess I should be known as SF 10D dude now.

    Hey folks!

I'm coming to SF on Tuesday morning from Seattle. I need to be in Palo Alto for business wed/thurs, but am arriving at 08:30 Tuesday a.m. so I can spend the day in SF to shoot. ;o)

I realize you've got a day planned for later in the week - however, if there are any die-hards who never seem to get enough shooting and would like to meet up Tuesday - I'm game!

My first trip to SF was about a month ago. I shot at Crissy Field, North Point, Presidio, the park @ the end of the bridge on the Marin side, Palace of Fine Arts, China Town, Japan Town - I managed to cover all these in a day and a half...

If no one is game for shooting - what are the top places you'd recommend shooting? I land about 8;30 and will be on the road by 9:15. I've got the ENTIRE day, don't need to be in Palo until roughly 8p.

    Thanks!
