    Past it's prime

I know this Iris is past it's prime, but I was so excited when the UPS guy stopped today I just couldn't contain myself. This is the first image with the new Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8. This has been my dream lens for more years than I can count. I finally own one of my very own. Thanks to my wife and the $100 rebate. Can't wait to get to a sports field with this baby the autofocus is sooo fast and with the f2.8 I finally have a little DOF control with digital. Just had to post something with it, after all I have owned it for nearly and hour.

This image is a longway from perfect, but it was the first with the lens.

I was afraid you were talking about me for a second there! ;-)

Congratulations on your new lens! I want that lens soooo bad. And I will have one, one day!

You are a VERY intelligent man listening to your wife like that!

    BTW, hang on to her!!!!

The burning question on my mind is WHICH ONE???

    AF-S? AF-D? VR?

You said it's new, so it must be either the VR or the AF-D, as the AF-S isn't being sold anymore. I had the AF-D and I loved the thing, incredible optics and speed.

Coundn't find the AF-S new at B&H or any number of other dealers. So I settled for the AF-D price was really right.

Version when they came out with the VR version.

I thought that too (yeah, about me, not Speed).

I've got that lens too - bought mine used a couple years ago. Great lens, very sharp. You'll love it - and handholding it is good exercise too!

Wouldn't you know it poured down here this evening raining out every ballgame in the area. But it was probably a lucky break for me. I got to spent the night lifting weights so I will be able to tote that big glass around.
