    prom is coming!!!
ok, i think i'm being cheap for prom. I do not want to pay ridiculous prices for the in house prom photoshot. I always hated the backdrops, the props, and the composition of the photo as well. I hate having to be perfectly centered and being able to see our feet. I like tight, not too tight, because its important to see my date's dress but still being intimate. I'm lucky, i'm considerin making my own prom shots.

This is my situation: my date's friend's father is a professional photographer. I'm not really familar with work. She told me we're taking picture at their house with all the parents there. So i'm expecting to have a little studio lighting, simple backdrop, sounds like fun. I would like to take some of my own pictures with my own camera. 20D with the 28-55mm lense kit. Is it a good enough camera/lense to take 'prom' pictures with. I'm considering of borrowing my friends 85mm f/1.8 prime lense. I hope he'll let me borrow it because i'm in love with the quality it produces. in addition, I hope i don't disrespect my date's friend's father as well. I would just like some copies of prom pictures saved onto my own cf. Also, i wouldn't want to pay for his prints either. =\ i hope he'll understand.

Thanks for any feedback or thoughts.

If you go to the photographer before hand and ask if he would let you do thing, I personally wouldn't have a problem with it.

Ok, things are changing. I guess we're just taking some outdoor pictures around 6 so the golden hour. Are there any suggestions on group portraits? I just bought a circular polarizer filter. We're taking pictures along a golf course. I'll be sure to post some of my results later tomorrow. OFF TO PROM!
