    Think photo opportunity.

I'm going to miss this. Solid overcast here with an 80% chance of rain tonight, Saturday, and Sunday!

So please share your pictures with me.

Sweet. My new (old) Contax Sonnar 135mm and Distagon 28mm lenses should be on my doorstep when I get home. My Contax 139Q body, capable of multiple exposures, arrived a couple of days ago. Sunset is at 6:29. My girlfriend has plans to go somewhere at 7pm. I think I'll be testing some new equipment. :D

A 500mm with a 2X teleconverter would be just about right...

Guess I'll be using my 80-200mm again. The field of view in my Celestron won't let me get more than about 1/2 a degree of the sky...

It looked great when my wife and I were driving home from dinner tonight. By the time I got home, the sky had gotten quite a bit darker, but I did grab this image.

    Nice shots, guys!

My new 28 and 135 lenses arrived on schedule, so I used them to take several double-exposure images, with a wide view of the landscape and a slightly enlarged view of the moon and venus. Been a while since I shot the moon and I've never used slide film before, so I'm not confident my exposures will be any good, but I tried. Hopefully, I'll finish the roll this weekend and have something to scan next week.

My shots, unfortunately it's been windy all day and evening and there was some dust in the sky. Oh well, it was pretty to look at.

I shot with the D80 and the D700 w/ the 200-400 -- just to see what the difference in the crop sensor would be.

I almost missed it! I ran out just before the duo started setting behind my neighbor's trees and snapped a few off w/ my A700 and 70-210F4... When I get a chance (they are on my other computer), I'll post some if they turned out.

Michael, I'd like to know the details of your shot. You captured Venus as a crescent, which it is! What camera, lens, and settings did you use?

    Hey Speed,

This was shot with the 40D and Sigma 170-500mm lens at 500mm, f/11. Shutter speed was 1/20 sec on a tripod with cable release. ISO was 250. When I sharpened the image, I only sharpened the moon. Adding sharpening to Venus seemed to fill in the crescent shape. This image is cropped a little bit also.

I see. Paul has a Sigma 170-500. He likes his.

Great shot Michael. Thanks for the info!

Yes, Paul does, or at least did have that same lens, in the Nikon mount I think. I think there was some talk about selling it in the N/W forum a while back, but I don't know if he sold it or not. It's not a bad lens, but it's not top shelf either.

starriderrick, what a wonderful image! It almost looks like the sky is on fire. If it was mine, I would be finding a frame.
